This is an excellent place to take photos because of the big cyclone like monument in the centre of the square! Many people love to come here for leisure; expect to find people flying kites, old mid-aged ladies dancing on the square, and many other people jogging, so good to be there.

There's not much to do except a walk along the promenade although there's a variety of stall selling trinkets and souvenirs. But it's probably the experience of emerging with locals that makes this place a good place to go to on a sunny day.

Worth walking to and also walk along the seafront. The red sculpture is lit up at night and the Olympic circles and structures from the 2008 Olympic sailing are also lit up in the background.

Qingdao has more sunny days than I think people thinking about China would realise. I was there in Winter and there were some glorious days. This park is near the harbour and its nice to see people out and about flying kites and having coffee. Its close to shopping areas and worth a visit

With big red monument which is symbol of new Qingdao. Mostly you appreciate beach front walk when not so much crowded during top season. Not so many activities to be done. Option for dinning or coffee on walking distance

Qingdao was the site of the 2008 Sailing Olympics and as a result the beach front has a wonderful promenade to walk, along which is the May Fourth square, which is a key landmark in the City.

We had views of May Fourth Square from our airbnb, so it wasn't a huge deal to walk down and see it up close. It is a cool monument and is right on the ocean. The walking paths in the area are good to have an easy stroll outside. There is also an outdoor shopping area just south of the... More

Nice open area in the middle of downtown with good location but the site itself is nothing much. Will see people flying kites and right on the oceanside so worth stopping by but not worth the top 5 (from memory) rating here. German quieter areas, or in the hills are much more worthwhile to visit.
