About 3-4km or 40-50mins walk from Changchun's train station lies one of the best preserved historical sites I've come across during my year studying abroad in China: the palace/prison of the Manchurian regime's figurehead Pu Yi. Simply a 'must-visit' for anyone visiting Changchun.

The puppet palace is well kept and has several buildings filled with artifacts to see. Also, of course, lots of shopping. It can get quite busy in the summer so I suggest early spring or fall.

The sight itself is not particularly interesting, but I strongly recommend the audio Guide as it gives you great information about the history about China and their relationship to Japan. The most interesting part is the live story of the puppet emporer- an amazing story...More
