Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dong Shan is a really cute area 2 hours drive from Shanghai. There are a number of ancient villages, and it borders Taihu lake. We stayed at the newly built Linden Center in one of the towns for 2 nights in a restored manor and it was really lovely. The narrow town alleyways and the whitewashed walls are really picturesque, but with towns people living and working there so not touristy at all. There are hiking trails, farms, delicious fresh fruit and vegetables. Recommend!

Travelled with a group of expats to Dongshan Island for a day trip - very foggy day but it cleared up in time for us to see the water of the lakes as we crossed the peninsula to the island.
Dongshan is nestled on a peninsula extending from Taihu Lake, surrounded on three sides by water. It is a part of beautiful Taihu Lake scenic area, and has a long history, Plenty to fill in your day. Orange season was in full swing and we saw many sellers - some who chased you to buy. A good day out with much to see.

Great atmosphere & view on the way there, by passing the infamous Taihu lake. Once there you can start hiking and try the raspberry, very nice and sweet.
