Impressive statue

The Guanyin statue is impressive. However this is a tourist trap and is expensive because you will pay for everything you do .Xidao is a tiny island and relies on tourism.

Nanshan ecological park. Contains the temple, the statue, longetivity valley and many more. Stunning gorgeous breathtaking. Has to be on your to do list. I got the number 25 bus here. But other numbers come also. Cost 121 rmb walking. More if you want golf cart transport. So much to see and do here it took me all day. It... More

Nanshan is a primarily money-making venture masquerading as a religious site. The statue of Guanyin itself is certainly impressive, but there's very little else to see here except for poor imitations of other Buddhist sites from around the world. Additionally, visiting almost anything in the tourist area other than the Guanyin statue itself requires additional payment on top of the... More

Be prepared to pay for entry, food, drinks, tram rides and etc approx. 300 to 500 yuan per adult person The main attraction is the golden Guan Yin and the 108mtrs high Guan Yin. The weather is very hot, be prepared to sweat buckets. (September) Bring back pack for water, hats, sun block, battery operated fan, extra tee shirt, cooling wipes,... More

Except for its wide, sandy beaches, Sanya has little to offer in terms of tourism, unless one wanders out into the country side. But visiting the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone is certainly recommended. It is located at a 50 minutes bus ride outside Sanya city. Take bus 16 or 25. "Nanshan" means "South Mountain". Actually this is a Buddhist Center,... More

A very nice place in the nature. Beautiful view to sea, beach and mountains. The statue of the Guan Yin is really impressive . The place is without doubts a typical tourist spot, but despite that we liked it a lot. We came there quite late, almost before closing time so on the way back we were alone on the... More

The Nanshan Buddhist Cultural Zone is about 40km from downtown Sanya and is "a unique large-scale eco-cultural tourism zone with an area of 50 square kilometers" - the largest cultural tourist attraction of its kind in China. And it draws big crowds - dozens of tour buses in the car-park when we arrived. However, being so expansive, and being able... More

This supposedly a place of worship has been managed as a "theme park", if you insist of visiting, bring loads of cash as the entrance fee will cost you RMB150 during peak season. A visit inside the Goddess of Mercy statue will cost another RMB80! Other "carefully" planned activities throughout the park will cost money as well, so be careful.... More

Nice place but build just as a tourist attraction so depends what you like and what you're looking for while traveling. We spent there some time but in overall weren't really impressed with the commercial site of it as spiritual aspect is hardly seen. It is all about making money.

It is like the Lourdes, Fatima, or any other so called religious (are they?) Destinations created for the sole reason of making good money from tourists offering nothing in return. The place lacks any cultural aspects of Buddhism apart some monks going around with the rosary and ripping off gullible tourists with special chants in exchange for good money. There... More
