Ne there just to make my Chinese wife happy. All Chinese maybe believe this but for foreigner it looks like just as a bad copy from a real Thai temple. Everywhere souvenirs shops and no real Buddhism spirit.Gobtobthe Statue, you need Tobias extra,Ministerin cost extra, round tour cost extra and all small temple expect also money to trow in..not real nice to see 1 fake monk between all this souvenirs shops and eating shops..ice cream availing everywhere and small water bottle cost a fortune..not recommended
Tip: bring your own water and some sandwiches ..

The local bus(16) droped us in the main road and from there we had to take a local motorcycle to the ticket couter. It took around 5 minute to reach it and we payed 5 yuan/person for the motorcycle ride which was worth it because it was a long walk . It costed us around CNY 150/ person for the entrance ticket.
Nanshan Buddhism Culture Park is one of the largest cultural tourist attractions of its kind in China, located 40 km (24 miles) southwest of Sanya. It was developed to portray the Buddhist culture. The giant sea-side statue of Guan Yin which stands 108 m (353.33 ft) high; . fourth tallest statue in the world and the tallest statue of Guanyin in the world. The statue has three aspects; one side faces inland and the other two face the South China Sea, to represent blessing and protection by Guanyin of China and the whole worldTianya Haijiao (The ends of the earth and the corners of the sea).
You can also visit Nanshan Temple南山寺 which is inside the park.
But the Nepal Pavilion inside the park is certainly a place to visit. This is also known as Buddha Pavillion (fotuo guan 佛陀 管). Beautiful architecture, temples and statues of Nepal can be seen.

They only want your money, religion is just a cover up for taking your money. You pay to get in and you keep paying if you want to see what you came for. Ring the gong, pay..., visit the statue, pay...burn incense....pay, and so it goes on, I'm surprised there was not exit fee.

Went to this park as a part of a cultural exchange. It was interesting...but seems like it was built for money more than anything else. There are a LOT of Buddhist things, small prayer buildings, spinning wheels, etc...but for the most part, you pay to do everything...including 150rmb just to get in. The giant Guanyin is very pretty and neat to see...but even that you have to pay extra to get inside. It's really an amazing religious money maker...to me at least. The worst part was the captured, and endangered sea turtles that you can purchase for release in return for an extra "blessing" from Guanyin...wow!
However, despite the exploitation, the park is atualy VERY well taken care of compare to most things in China. And, the Guanyin statue is beautiful.
That's why I give it the "mama huhu" or "so, so" rating. I'm glad I went at least once. If you're in Sanya, it's worth it to go. But, would I go again? I don't think so.
Here are a few tips.
1) Be prepared for the conditions. If you don't buy the extra tickets for the carts to tow you around, you'll walk a lot and it's up and down. If it's hot outside, you can count on the humidity being high...you're going to sweat...a LOT. Start early or go late...avoid the heat. Wear shoes that can walk for a long ways and not be uncomfortable.
2) Try to arrange a deal with a driver to take you to/from the Nanshan area. There are for hire cars all over our there, but they'll exploit you worse than the gate. It's way better to arrange a car to take you, wait, and then bring you back. Sometimes even regular taxi's will do this for a little fee. Whatever it is, it's worth it over having to negotiate when you're pretty much stuck 40 minutes outside of town.
3) Try to avoid having to eat there or even just outside the park. Everyone knows there is very little out there. We opted to eat outside the park and paid close to 4X's what we would've in town for a meal that wasn't nearly as good.
4) Be patient, wear a smile, take a camera. The majority of the Chinese folks that are there are tourist along with all the foreigners. This is most likely 80% of everyone in the parks' first time visit too. Wander around, take a lot of pictures...you'll likely only go once.

We visited this attraction because we had seen the huge Guanyin statue as we were flying into Sanya.
When we arrived it turned out there was much more to do at this beautiful park.
You can take a electric train around the park which takes about 30 mins start to finish however there are many stops along the way. The two main attractions were the Guanyin statue and the Nanshan temple which are a must see.
There are lots of places to get refreshments and souvenirs but the food is very overpriced!

Compared to other religious sites I have visited I thought the God they were worshiping here was money. However like a lot of things I have experienced while staying here the Chinese certainly do things a bit differently. Part religious shrine part theme park it was certainly an interesting visit, things are certainly done on a rather large scale.
We paid for an English speaking guide who we met at our hotel and this greatly enhanced our a visit but it will not detract from your visit if you go by yourself although very limited English is spoken there. Very busy but still a very peaceful tranquil place and obviously the Guanyin statue is the highlight, however the park does offer a lot more besides and there is some fabulous architecture to enjoy. Putting aside my pre conceptions I had this definitely a must see when staying in Sanya and its surroundings.
Where comfortable shoes and bring plenty of sun cream as it is very hot. The restaurants are vegetarian but very delicious and very reasonably priced.

This is one of the main attractions of a visit to Sanya. I took the #55 bus in both directions from Dadonghai to get here at a price of 13 CNY each way. Took more than an hour though, but a comfortable aircon bus ride. Entrance fee was an outrageous 121 CNY (it's even higher in peak season). This is expensive for what you get, but there's no real choice - you either want to see it or you don't. The main attraction to see is the giant Buddha in the sea. In the off season the crowds aren't too bad and it doesn't take long to see the main sights. The rest of the temples aren't that spectacular - but you may as well take a look whilst there.

A lot of things to see inside the Cultural Park including the Nanshan Temple who wish to explore the Buddhism in deep. Fair walking distance to the Buddha feet lookout but they have cart service with extra cost.
