Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This review as the title says is for the museum,, not the city area which was under serious construction when we visited.
The museum is not very big, 2 rooms downstairs and 1 larger area upstairs (lift available) It is a Chinese musuem and unusually there is not 1 word in the displays other than written Chinese. However, the very helpful young lady on the desk when I entered gave me a visitor book which is in Chinese/English so I was able to follow the story all the way through.
It gives you an insight in to Shenzhen of old, probably they are trying to somehow give it a sense of history.
Not a must see by any means but if you have 30 minutes to kill pop in as its free.

While it is interesting to see some of the older styles of architecture I found little to be enthusiastic about here. The modern developments that surround it and the general hustle and bustle of rather tacky daily trade do not help it either. Historically it may be if interest, but as a current day experience rather give it a miss.

Visited this at the same time as the temple and as ancient street both located close. It has 2 floors. Mainly pottery etc from the area. Small and clean. Pretty standard by the numbers. Free entry.

Was glad to see that Nantou has a popular pub moving in. The Bionic Brewery that founded the Electric City Brewing Fest in Shenzhen is opening a spot there and they are really revitalizing Nantou Ancient Town. I think in a few months, it will be absolutely awesome when all the construction is complete. Right now, you need a bit of imagination but once discovered, it will take off.

A 24-hour creative and cultural district, it is also an ancient city that has witnessed nearly 1,700 years of historical changes. The city still retains historical buildings such as the Xin'an County Government Office, Dongguan Guild Hall, South City Gate, and Baode Temple, as well as residential buildings with Lingnan Guangfu architectural style built during the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. There are also multiple permanent exhibitions where you can Learn more about the development and changes of Pearl River Estuary culture. One of them displays an ancient map, which is worth a look.

When you are in it, you will find most cafes and restaurants with a literary youth style, selling some special creative or foreign cultural products. It has a strong commercial atmosphere and you can easily spend half a day shopping.
