It was nice to spend some hours there but was a bit disappointed. Maybe because the September typhoon caused a lot of damage. Half of the park is hiking! And you can easily get lost as the maps isn't precise and there's a lack of signs inside the park. I had a student discount and paid 20 yuan to get... More

The gardens were exactly what we were expecting. I tranquil escape from the city. I'm sure that botanical experts will find much of interest in the sprawling park, on the side of a large hill but for the ignorant like us, it was a pleasant, peaceful place to spend a few hours. The trail to the top of the hill... More

The Botanical gardens are a worthwhile place to visit when in Xiamen and not peessed for time. There is a variety of sights but it is not always straightforward to navigate if you don't speak or read chinese. The English signs are sparse.

Beautiful gardens and hiking trails. It is a quiet and peaceful place in the middle of a big city. The cactus and succulent area is amazing: Thousands of species, beautifully presented, exotic and unusual. Entrance fee is very reasonable. You can purchase a bus ticket inside the gardens to assist you in getting around for a very small fee. There... More

Second visit - pleasant gardens to meander through. Easy to walk through even with little Chinese. Pleasant way to spend an afternoon!

Ok, with some Botanical Gardens, one has to walk miles to see mediocre presentations. This however has some great ones. The Cactus and Succulent area is second to none in the world! I don't say that lightly. You'll think you were in the middle of a Mexican desert! It's quite amazing. Also has a cool rainforest creation and other flower... More

The botanical garden is not yet up to standard, compared to other international gardens, but it is for sure a nice park for hiking. Some of which are rather extreme for unexperienced hikers. Nonetheless, many of the beaten track type walks that can be done; if not Chinese, one would need some good sense of direction, but often nice views... More

During our recent family vacation in Xiamen, this garden also known as Wanshi Botanical Garden ranked as our top two favorite must-see attractions. Built in 1960, this is one of China’s most distinctive gardens with an ancient landscape and a rich cultural heritage. It boasts of more than 6,000 species of tropic and subtropical ornamental plants which are contained in... More
