Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This garden is just at the exit from piano museum at Gulangyou. I suggest to see it. It is a composition of some paths walking down to small pond with colorful fish. This walk is just a few minutes so all exiting from museum should take it.

We spent a 3 hours on Gulangyu Island. The whole island is filled with European style buildings and interesting gardens, including Shuzhuang Garden.

The gardens are quite pretty. They aren’t very big, but it was nice just to walk around. There is a boardwalk with an expansive view of the South China Sea.

Fascinated by the rock garden in the park. The garden is not big, but also meanders on a path along the sea shore. Your ticket, also includes the 2 buildings of the piano museum. Well worth a visit

Shizhuang Garden was another fee requiring section of the island. Within the grounds were two buildings of the piano museum that had an extensive collection of unique pianos that would impress even the non-musicians. The zigzag bridge along the coast and the cave rock formations adjacent to the garden were actually more impressive than the garden itself (which was also a beautiful sight).

There is a fee to enter this garden, RMB30 per adult but it is worth to pay the entrance fee. Upon entry, there is a museum of personal artifacts and collection of antiques. This museum is fully air conditioned so it was a good way to escape the summer heat (we were there in July). After the museum, it leads to a nice garden and beach front. There is also a garden with typical lake house. Do take pictures there as the background is spectacular.

If you are up to it, climb up to flights of steep steps to visit the Piano Museum, which is also covered under the entrance fee.

My only comment is there is not enough seating area in the gardens for those not keen to climb up to visit the Piano Museum.

Overall, it is worth a visit!

This is a beautiful seaside garden. Shuzhuang Garden (Chinese: 菽庄花园) was built in 1913 in the south of Gulangyu Island. Originally a private villa of the prestigious local squire Lin Erjia, Shuzhuang Garden was donated to the country in 1955. The garden was built according to the natural landform in ingenious layout, which creates a charming view of "garden on the sea and the sea in the garden".

In tbe garden you can see a rock garden with the 12 Chinese horoscope and Chinesr poem engraved on tbe rock. From the guide introduction, i came to know that the owner built this garden exactly to the one that he has in his hometown. He must have missed his home.

This is really a tranquail place. You can sit on the bench and admire the fishes and surrounding.

Besides Sunlight Rock, this is another popular attraction. The garden is well maintained and the layout is well designed, facing the sea and the hill. I particularly enjoyed the walk on the forty four bridge along the coast, with great view of the sea and surrounding landscape. There are pavilions, rock formations, rest stops spread over the compound. The piano museum is inside this garden. Well worth a visit if you are in Gulangyu.
