Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The statue is a homage to the "arrieros" from Magallanes. In general, their life was very hard, living in posts, sometimes in severe conditions. It's free and highly concurred place. Please, be careful if you climb over the horse or dogs.

Just that: Lame. A simple monument to the sheep farmer. End of attraction. If you are near it, sure. Do not travel out of your way for this.

If you pass by it makes sense to stop by for few minutes and take some pictures. Not worth a detour. It is more a symbol than a piece of art. Very simply made, one can see a shepherd with some sheep, a dog and a horse in almost 1:1 scale. It is located in the middle of a large road.

This is a statue that portraits one of the characteristic activities of this region: sheep. It's an interesting monument and the locals say that one can even jump on the horse as if you were leading the herd...

A shepherd walking with his horse leading a small flock of sheep with his dog keeping them in line. Life size 12 figures. I believe it was made around 1944.

This life-sized monument is dedicated to the shepherds and ranching industry that brought much wealth to the area. There were large sheep farms capable of providing much wool and lamb, the major economy of the region. The original monument in 1944 was in granite but was later replaced in bronze. It extends for about 100 feet and consists of a shepherd, his horse, his sheepdog, and a herd of nine sheep. Punta Arenas is known for its many statues. This one is very nice, but I would not go out of my way to see it.

If you've wanted to sit on a horse or sheep that won't throw you off while taking a photo, this is the place for you. Monumento al Ovejero, a tribute to the ranching industry that was significant in building the wealth in the region, is basically in the center of the main avenue into town just before the cemetery park. There seems to be a constant flow of people posing with the life-size sculptures; trying every configuration they can think of, sitting on the various sheep, sitting on the horse, standing with the shepherd, singly and with all the family members. That can be entertaining in itself and sooner or later your turn will come to have time with the sculptures yourself.

Usually everyone visit the cementery. So this „Monument“ is just around the corner. Worth to watch it and have a quick look next to it. Where there is a small piece of art with a book with letters reflecting the shade with Sun.

This is not too far from the main cemetery and both are well worth a look if you’re staying in Punta Arenas.

This is in the central reservation of a road. It's an impressive sculpture but is not an attraction in its own right
