This plaza was built around 1900, and is the point of departure for any destination in Punta Arenas. If you enjoy your stay in this city, be sure to touch the toe of the Indian on the main monument at the center of the plaza....More

Ok to walk around & have a look. It's not the most beautiful place in Chile but there's enough for a few hours' browsing. The plaza is small & leafy, close to the shops. The statue is in the centre of the square. Make sure...More

Visiting on a cruise, we took a trip to the center of town. It is a lovely square. We were able to get Chilean pesos nearby. There are handicrafts on sale around the plaza. It is a good place to start a look around town.

Nice for a stroll and take in some history. Small stalls with local souvenirs along one side. One of them had skeins of local wool. Mounted police patrolled the area and it seemed more for the tourists than any problem.Quite a quiet unthreatening town.

I have been thinking further about your question. I see you may be travelling with young children. Nao Victoria is all outdoors, along the Magellan Straight, so I strongly recommend that for your family. They can climb all... More
