Nice hiking

We had a long day in town from our cruise ship so opted to come hiking up here. Took a cab up and then did a pretty great hike through the forest to a lookout. It was sunny and... read more

The instructions in their brochure for getting to the reserva are COMPLETELY wrong. At some unmarked street, you need to take a right and continue on for a couple miles. The ranger said they ären´t allowed¨ to put up signs, but couldn´t explain the incorrect instructions in the brochure. If you do make it, you will have all 7 kilometers... More

We had a long day in town from our cruise ship so opted to come hiking up here. Took a cab up and then did a pretty great hike through the forest to a lookout. It was sunny and cold the day we were there, but totally worth it. It did warm up as the day went on and the... More

This place is really close to town and gives you the chance of a few hours walking. There is nothing too outstanding about it but you do get nice views over Punta Arenas.

So I biked up (mountain bike necessary, rentals in town). The road is not really marked to the reserve, but I looked it up on Google maps before heading up, and pretty much had to guess when to turn right. Before that, follow the signed for Anden ski area. You go through the poor section of town, which was interesting... More

If you have a spare day while in Punta Arenas and the weather is good I would recommend going here. There are a couple of short hikes through pretty forest that opens up to some views over the city. Without rushing you could do both hikes that are currently open in under 3 hours. A taxi will set you back... More

I would not miss this place, we saw lots of penguins close to there. The roads were deserted (it was around Xmas).

This is a nice place to practice hiking with friends or family, there are some routes with different difficulties. You need to take your own food and drinks. You can have a great view of the Straight of Magellan from the hill

Easy to find and hike forest preserve with very few visitors! My family of 4 took a taxi from the ship port for about $10 each way to the reserve and then hiked on our own in the reserve. No entrance fee--but very helpful park rangers who got us to the pathway and gave us a map. The hike was... More

Here's how to get there, cause it's tricky to find info on. From the city, head west up Independencia. It's around 7kms from the water. Keep going up the hill, the road will become unsealed (good condition dirt) - keep going. Stay on the main road and after around 5.5k from town, look for the sign which will lead you... More

This is a very good place to do some light to moderate trekking while in Punta Arenas. The park is near town (you can reach it by car, a short taxi drive or bike, if you can manage a strong up-slope on the way to the park made up for by a downhill on the way back to town). Most... More
