Interesting place if you have a guide
When visiting this place, it’s a good idea to get the guide from the veteran if available. I’m not sure I would’ve had the same experience without him telling his story. We all know the horrors of war but it’s much more poignant hearing it from someone who was there and actually hearing how even though it’s ended it’s still impacting civilian lives. Walking around the museum we could see the remnants of the war, but without someone there explaining them I would’ve just seen them as rusting tanks etc.

Worth checking out if you are into military history
A bit far from the city, but worth checking out if you are interested in military history. It is a quiet place with several exhibits on display - missiles, armored vehicles, one helicopter, etc. There are some descriptions, but a guide would have helped even more, I heard sometimes one is available. Sobering display related to mines and their effects

Must-do museum if you are interested in Cambodia’s history
We would really recommend a visit to this museum. It was only a 15 minute drive in a TukTuk from our hostel, so not out of the way whatsoever. The entrance is only 5 dollars. We asked at the entrance desk about a tour guide and we were directed to Sinath, who is a war veteran. This was the highlight of the visit for us as he shares his personal experiences and was very knowledgeable. We also enjoyed looking around the weapons and machinery used during the war. The museum is mostly outside and the machines are quite rusted as mentioned in other reviews but we felt this didn’t negatively impact our experience. There is also a building at the back of the museum that contains a lot of information to read including more personal stories about landline victims. We spent around an hour at the museum. Overall, a very worthwhile thing to do while in Siem Reap.

    Tanks and more
Great compact museum with plenty of armoured vehicles and artillery pieces. Also haas a display of weapons and anti personnel mines. $5 USD to enter, tour guide who was ex military with plenty of war experience and story’s will take you around. I tipped $3 well worth the money.

Amazing experience, do get a guide as they make for a better understanding of Cambodian history.
This is a must do visit, the museum itself is very good but mostly battle damaged Russian equipment. The display at the back of the museum is fascinating and helps explain the minefield catastrophe. PLEASE do get a guide (donation/tip), their experiences of living through the 1965 - 1999 period are fascinating and horrifying at the same time. These guides are the living museum and their stories need to be told and heard.

Well worth the $5 USD entry. A good outdoor based museum with loads of rusting armoured vehicles and artillery artefacts and anti personnel mines. Tour guide who was ex military with plenty of war experience and story’s will take you around.

It happened quite some time ago when me and my husband visited this 'museum'. We were late and we were the only persons there although there was a man at the entrance and with him we could buy the tickets. We gave the money for it to him and he took it and put it in his pocket at the same time he was chuckling like a child and said us to go inside. But we didnt receive the tickets and when we asked again for it twice suddenly he raged and insulted us. We were stunned we walked around inside in shock for a short time but soon decided to leave this place right away. Very bad experience.

It was so interesting to learn about how Cambodia, as a country has been affected during their years of struggle. Our guide (based on tips) was so informative and passionate about sharing his story to inform more people about the truth of Cambodia. A must when visiting- a very important message to be heard.

Not sure how anyone can say the museum is terrible. Should be ashamed of themselves.

Only $5 for entry and a free tour guide who explains in detail as to how life has been for Cambodians through war after war. It’s well worth a visit and will leave you feeling sad but glad you have learnt something about this wonderful country.

I noted the previous mixed reviews, but went with an open mind. Tuk tuk there from the city centre was US$2 and entry into the museum was $5. When l visited l was the only person there - aside from the lady selling the tickets. There were no guides. I just wandered the yard (overgrown paddock) looking over the rusted tanks etc. The land mine display and information boards were somewhat interesting. To cap it off, it started to teem rain half way through my ‘tour’ and the yard quickly became a quagmire. Overall, it could have been so much better and l’m sure a guide would improved my experience by providing context the the artefacts and displays.

Lots of in depth information and haunting artefacts very well presented in a beautiful respectful peaceful setting in a non-glorified way. An informative, moving and memorable experience. Much respect to the curators, they have done an excellent job with a difficult exhibit.

We visited this museum and paid 5usd per person, having walked round a large grassed area with very rusty armoured tanks etc. which were in were in exceeding poor condition with sharp rusty edges There was no one around to assist with information so after 15 minutes we left.
Unless you’re an antique tank and gun freak, don’t waste your time and money.

Pretty much abandoned. Only member of staff present was the lady selling tickets ($5). You’re then left to wander around the garden which has a variety of war machinery in a poor state. Apart from a small building with shells, guns and a variety of story boards, there’s really not much here. The whole museum seems like a con. Sorry to say this…

Yes, as has been stated, this is a place of rusting tanks, armoured personnel carriers and machine guns. It is also a place which shows what happened during the civil war in Cambodia and the damage done to the people.
You will hear the story of a guide, who may explain how his whole life has been blighted, and show you shrapnel still in his knee and his prosthetic leg from when he stood in a land mine. You may meet the same man, whose whole family was killed and whose wife was killed only four years ago after stepping on a land mine
Please go and spend an hour of your time there, your money will be well spent: only $5 to gain a better understanding.

Came across this museum by a chance discussion with a Tuk tuk driver. Only 45-60 minutes required but you can tour alone or with a war veteran for free. Very moving narrative about the horrors of war, landmines which still exist today and a vast amount of weaponry on show.

A visit to this must see museum is both an enlightening and sobering experience. The old rusting tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery pieces are remnants of a not so great time for Cambodia. The largest impact however came from the guide, a gentleman who survived the country's civil war. The tales he told were both interesting and at the same time harrowing. This museum should be on every visitors must visit list.
