While not impressive as other sites, it is still worth seeing. The trips there on the long bridge surrounded by lotuses is quite an experience in itself. Do get a guide or a guidebook, without it, I would have missed the horse statue and its story.

Neak Poan temple is undeniably one of the standout attractions in Siem Reap. Despite its small size, this temple's simple tower on a picturesque island, encircled by serene pools of water, creates a captivating sight. What sets this place apart is its location on an island within a vast baray, offering a unique and tranquil experience. The stunning reflections on the water make it an absolute photographer's paradise, and I was particularly impressed when I captured the aerial view. This hidden gem in the middle of an island is an absolute must-visit. I wholeheartedly recommend exploring Neak Poan temple for a memorable and enchanting experience.

This was fun to walk across the boardwalk on a lake to get to the trail that leads you to this temple. The temple is an artificial island with a small Hindu temple on it. At the base of the island are two snakes that surround the island. We liked that the scenery was unique from the other temples

In the sophisticated public health system of the great Dhammaraja Jayavarman VII, the complex water basins of Neak Pean, the artifical Entwined Serpents island, represents a reflection of cosmology, spiritual powers of the water, but not least water therapy in a balneological, genuinely spa-related way. A fantastic, gorgeous monument to and of free public health for all, as it should be, from the 12th/13th century - and a great challenge for public policy today, everywhere. Touristically, I think a must visit for the non-touristy tourists because of the lovely access bridge and the entire setup of an artificial island in an artificial lake.
