It will take you at least two full days to visit the most important temples. I would advise against taking small children since there is a lot of ascending and walking, plus they may get bored and not appreciate the sheer beauty (no animals allowed).

A vast complex of temples which needs weeks rather than days to explore fully. If limited to time prioritise the temples you want to visit and use a local guide.

This is an old topic, but still. You should NOT do elephant tours. The elephants are tortured untill they have no will and then they take tourists on tours. Just google a bit and check the videos how they treat elephants... More
