    Interesting spot, good mission
This seems like a good place to go if you want to ensure that your Cambodian crafts are made in an ethical manner. The workshops are cool to see. Prices are fairly high, but that is what you can expect for ensuring the staff are treated well

    Great time in Siem reap
Great experience, I found very interesting to learn how the art crafts that we see selling at the markets are done. Also the way they capacitate people and are preserving their culture is very cool. Totally worth it, also because it’s close to the city center. Took around 1h tops, I don’t think you need a guide.

Outstanding quality crafts through a worthy workshop program
I visited the Artisans Angkor workshop in Siem Reap and its shops there, in Phnom Penh, and at the PP airport. I found it fascinating to watch the artisans as they mastered their crafts at the SR workshop! :) The quality of merchandise I saw was consistently outstanding. And the cause -- well worthwhile, in my opinion. So although I would not call the AA prices exactly competitive (you could get cheaper goods elsewhere), I felt comfortable paying for what I knew to be authentic, high quality merchandise in support of a worthy cause. The workmanship is outstanding!

    Beautiful Products
I have visited Siem Reap several times, but just discovered Artisans Angkor on my most recent visit. I wish I had discovered them earlier. This is a lovely social business that trains and supports young people from rural areas. You can visit each and every workshop, including ...... handmade silk weaving, ancient Ikat weaving, stone carving, wood carving, lacquering, silver-plating on copper. They have won several UNESCO awards for their excellence in handcraft products. All of their products are for sale in a very lovely gift shop. I bought many products as handmade Khmer gifts. This place is a MUST SEE in Siem Reap.

    A must-visit for high-quality crafts and products
On our second visit to Cambodia, we returned to Artisans Angkor. Our first visit was about 10 years ago, and we were given a tour of the workshop and saw people working on traditional crafts. This time, we went straight to the shop and bought some beautiful souvenirs to bring home. Every time I see the crafts I bought at Artisans Angkor, it reminds me of beautiful Cambodia.

Worth a visit to the workshops even if you dont want to shop
This is a commercial non-profit in that it is a big business catering to the business tours and wander in visitors. You can watch the craftspeople learning woood and stone carving, silk weaving and lacquer work. In reality the products are mainly produced in the villages so this is really for show. However my kids really enjoyed it and the guide was patient with allowing them to have a go at things. The shop is full of very beautiful products made by their artisans, it is not cheap at all but, in my view, the products are high quality for export so its priced accordingly. Clearly it’s cheaper to buy basic scarves etc in town. However what is sold here is produced in the province and employs lots of people. If you like silk it is the best i have seen in Siem Reap. Worth a visit if you are in town even if you aren’t interested in shopping. My kids really enjoyed it and, inevitably, i ended up buying a lacquer painting of Angkor Wat for my son. I hope it brings him many years of happy memories!

    Craftspeople in Action
An interesting and informative tour that explained the history and impact that this initiative has had on young people, their families and their villages. Great to get up close to working craftsmen and women. Excellent place to purchase high quality souvenirs

Great art and a good cause
Great art pieces to buy and a great cause. Nice to see individuals with talent given the chance to express it and enhance their lives. They are given health care and an opportunity to make a living. We bought a hand carved statue for$149. Well worth it for a beautiful piece of art and the knowledge you are helping people.

Worth your time to appreciate the craftsmanship
The tour takes about 20m and gives you an appreciation for the skill and craftsmanship that goes into the stonemasonary, wood carving and silk weaving. Beautiful gift shop but quite pricey due to the high quality. The staff follow you around but you don’t need to buy and the tour is free so it’s definitely worth an hour of your time. Quite centrally located but they are doing some renovations which has changed the entry point. There’s a sign directing you around the corner.

    Artisans Angkor
Artisans Angkor is a training center which focuses on community. It was an amazing opportunity to see handicraft at work with a free guided tour as well. The staff and artisans were excellent and clearly very passionate. It is a shame to see how Covid-19 has affected such a special place. I would 100% recommend visiting Artisans Angkor and support the locals. I look forward to seeing the wonderful renovations when I return to Siem Reap!

We went on a Scenic Cruise down the Mekong River in July 2019. A part of the cruise included some time in Siem Reap (before going cross country to get on the ship.) The cruise line offered several possible day trips--including time at the Artisans of Angkor. It was great tour, very interesting. We then spent some time in their gift shop where we spent several hundred dollars. One of my purchases was a stone stylized lion. After being at home for a while, I decided that I really wanted another one. They had an online shop at that time where you could buy many of the things from the gift shop. In mid-April 2020 I went to the store and ordered a second lion. With shipping, it was a little over $200. I expected it to take a while but after a month, I wrote to them asking for a status. No answer. Since then, I've written two more times. Still no answer. And while the web site is still there, the link to the gift shop is gone. It is beginning to look like I'm just out the money. NOT a great experience!

It was fascinating to wander around the workshops seeing the incredible skills of the apprentices at this social enterprise. The workshops are in a very nice setting with a small cafe and a shop selling beautiful items produced by the traditional craftspeople.
I would also highly recommend the free visit offered to the Angkor Silk Farm (09:30 and 13:30 daily) - a wonderful trip.

We went with our guide and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and selection of the things they made. While we did find several things we liked the prices kept us for buying most. Several items we found we also saw at a few other shops we went that had much cheaper prices. Not sure if it was the same but looked very close other than the cost.

When I was at the Siem Reap store in early August, the workshops were still closed. The store manager said that he was not sure if operations would ever resume. They are now clearing their merchandise on stock at discounts of 30 – 50%.

I really hope that this Cambodian institution will survive. No other souvenir shop comes even close to the style and quality offered by Artisans Angkor. I’m still happy with all my purchases made during the last twelve years. Never has an Artisans Angkor gift disappointed.

It's doubtful you'll find better quality or finished items anywhere else in Siem Reap. Designs are understated enhancing the sophisticated workmanship especially in their lacquer ware. Unzip a small purse and you'll see the attention to detail in the bag lining.

Some reviewers commented they found prices high.

Well...if you're in town now almost everything in the gift shop is discounted at least 30%, some marked down as much as 50%. I went back twice to make more purchases.

A recommended place to visit for those whom like to find Cambodian handicrafts especially silk made products and carvings. I love their fine and exclusive scarf design.
When you visit this place you will greeted by their staff and they will brief you on the Artisan Angkor history as well as showing you their workshops. You also had the opportunity to learn how to carve the limestone.

great to understand how this enterprise has developed and how the traditional crafts are taught. the process is explained and you can walk round watching the artisans at work. large shop. There are options to visit silk farm or try the crafts yourself but I did not have time to try that.

We spent approx. one hour touring the workshops of Artisans Angkor. This business trains and employs local talent to learn and maintain the craftwork of their country, and you get to see them at work. The results are amazing! Everyone we saw seemed 100% dedicated to their work, and their handiworks are very impressive. They also have a gift shop on site, where you can help to support them by making a small purchase. It is worth the time to visit this workshop.

Local artists/artists in training. Provides training to local area artists enabling them to improve their situations. Interesting but too much detail on the tour in most areas. They would do better with an overview and a focus on one area.

Lovely tour that’s free with donation. Amazing to see the amount of work that goes into the products. Definitely on the pricier side. I was ready to shell out $170 for an ikat silk scarf that takes two weeks to make by hand with natural dyes, but the pattern I wanted was still on the loom. I ended up seeing the scarf at the airport going home but at that point I had already spent a ton of money. Maybe next time.
