This museum is housed in a new building in downtown Alliance,r NE. The self-guided tour of the museum begins with a short movie about the area taking in the last tow million years or more. The movie and the museum vividly depict the life of the Native Americans and first settlers in the area. It also has great graphics about... More

Wonderful new museum that really has beautiful displays about what it was like to live in the Sandhills. Modern displays that are interesting. There is something for everyone here. Is free. Allow about 1 hour. Be sure to watch the 12minute movie first. Very informative.

What a beautiful museum tucked in a neighborhood of Alliance. The exhibits are very informational and the video is a good way to start your visit. Museum takes about 45 minutes to walk through and the staff is very helpful.

This is a great museum of Native American artifacts AND of European settlers that came to/through Alliance, NE. Watch the video if you can, that was very informative. The artifacts are very nicely arranged and have stories tied to them for your reading pleasure. It also has a nice exhibit on the Ogallala aquifer.

You don't have to be a history geek to enjoy this museum, as the displays are attractively organized and easy to browse. A fantastic section on Native American items. Well worth the time. The staff is great fun and eager to answer any questions. Carhenge takes 20 minutes to see, but this place could easily suck up a couple of... More

This is really a hidden gem. If you find yourself underwhelmed by Carhenge, this place is a trip-saver for sure. Exhibits cover the indigenous peoples, military affairs, the impact of railroads, the thriving cattle industry, and the unique culture of the Sandhills region. The curators have taken care to highlight selected individuals from several topic areas, putting a human face... More

I was here for a job interview and stopped by based on the recommendations. There is SO MUCH history not only of the local variety (town elders, businessmen, entrepreneurs, etc.) but also on the national level (travelling settlers, railroad barons, Indian Wars) which makes this a great learning experience. Most of the displays were previously owned by locals who donated... More
