camped here during the unusually warm November we are having. fall color is done. but it is migration season, so LOTS of ducks, geese and some herons. also saw plenty of deer while hiking and biking on the trails. scared up a pheasant too. ranger station is only open limited hours this time of year. so if you need something,... On a lazy mid October day I used TA and stumpbled on this scenic, fun park and scenic campground. Great hosts and full power for hookups.

Stayed two nights at BP1. The hike in is about a mile long half of which was on a paved trail. It had some ups and downs but wasn't particularly strenuous. We had to pack water in. There were spigots at the White Fox Campground near the backpack parking. We purchased wood at the park office. It was a bit... More

I can't write the best review of the park due to the fact that I camped there right after all of the rain MN has gotten. As a result, their facilities (toilets and showers) were closed, the trails were boggy, there were some down trees, and the campground had some flooding going on. That being said, the campsite was still... More

Unlike many campgrounds, this one has a wonderful privacy way of keeping everyone feeling like they are the only ones there. There are large shrubs around each campsite isolating the campers. The host welcomes you to the site and spends time with you then leaves you to enjoy your time there. It secluded but still close to Albert Lea if... More

You pay $5 at an unattended park, though cheap, with no idea what is actually there other than a map. It is rated as a good place for fishing, but it's a dying lake polluted by farm runoff and low oxygen level. Fishing was exceptionally poor. There was also a distinct lack of waterfowl which is not a good indication.

We have camped at White Fox Campground for the past 3 years and we'd go back again. (This is different than the Big Island campground, which we have not been to...it seems very buggy, not as private and the bathrooms have not been remodeled). At WF, many of the camping spots are more secluded (it seems that way, with more... More

We have visited this state park many times, I'll be honest it's not my favorite MN State Park (Blue Mounds, Whitewater, Beaver Creek, Frans Jevne, and Judge C.R. Magney, and Big Bog are some of my favorites), but it is a very good park that does a very good job at showing the diversity of Minnesota and providing for many... More

I've camped all across the country and I don't think I've ever seem more wildlife than at Myre-Big Island. I was there in late August and was amazed. The only improvement I would suggest is that the park provide some information to identify the wildlife there. Other than that (the park staff not informed or interested in educating the public... This is not only a big park with lots of wildlife, birds and water activities. There are trails and shelters. The thing I really like is camping. The park is well designed with as much privacy at each space as they can make. The facilities are well maintained. This park has a lot to offer, and is very easy to... More
