my daughter and I really enjoyed a day at the gardens. The inside scavenger hunt was a blast and really enjoyed the outside walk

What a wonderful place to visit - especially in the winter! When everything else is dormant or dead outside, life is green and lush and teeming in the botanical garden. A lovely gem right in our backyard, many people forget about all it has to offer - lush environment, heavenly scents from blooming flowers, dry, arid cacti and the soothing... More

Went during gray, sloppy snow flurries. Inside, past the threshold we were treated to colors, aromas, and peace of a warm, lush, dense tropics, then quiet temperate woods, finally exploring exotic and otherworldly desert cacti and other rock and sand dwelling plants. The air matched the lands as you discover and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Will report... More

Lovely place to go for a stroll in warmer weather, or to get a fix of greenery and warmth in the conservatory on a cold winter day

The Matthaei Gardens is East of the North UM campus and well North and East of the main campus. Not sure if the UM bus system reaches out here but if one is interested check the web page for the gardens. It is well worth the trip whether one is in town for a University event or just passing through.... More

I can't believe I don't go to the gardens once a month. It's a restful place and so beautiful. I went for a special event, but I can imagine wandering here on an ongoing basis.

I used to work in a greenhouse and this was one of my favorite spots to go and relax. It was always warm, humid and earthy smelling.

This is a nice place to slow down, get away from your cell, and experience nature. Busy on weekends, a treat during the week.

A great place to take your family to go and learn about local fauna. Nice for relaxing or taking a hike.

The green houses are wonderful, a nice mix of tropical and desert plants interspersed with imaginative fairy gardens. Outside gardens interesting, even in winter. Very nice gift shop.
