Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We drove in from an hour away to attend one of their Classic Movie series offerings... The Godfather! Thank you for showing one of the finest movies of all time on the big screen. Love this setting! The lobby is stunning with its staircase to the balcony level, mirrors, and beautiful ceiling. The theatre itself isn't too shabby either! Anytime you can see a movie in a historic theatre, you should take advantage. Since we were in Ann Arbor during COVID, masks were required to enter. Thank you for keeping us safe! We've seen movies, lectures, and concerts in this venue. It is always a treat!!

On a lazy Sunday afternoon, we chose the Michigan Theater to see the classic movie: Anatomy of a Murder.

Jimmy Stewart was incredible.

The theater was displaying some wonderful art pieces.

It is a wonderful place to see a classic movie. Incredibly well maintained.

Intimate historic beautiful venue. This was our first time visit and was pleasantly surprised how comfortable the seats were. Only problem was when I went to the women’s restroom midway through the show and there was not toilet paper or paper towel so I had to go to the one all the way downstairs.

Spent $270 for two tickets to Ron White concert on Feb 24th, 2018. Sat in the balcony section, row P. There was no audio being piped in via the speakers on the wall. Everything came from the stage speakers. I could probably make out 1 out of every 5 words. My wife and I weren't the only unable to hear. Many customers around us were complaining they could not hear. We also saw upset customers several rows/seats away from us.

Michigan theatre and Ron White should be ashamed of selling tickets to a comedy event when the ability to hear the performer is a prerequisite to enjoying the show.

Michigan theatre should close the balcony section or get a better audio system and Ron White should do a better job on his due diligence of the venues he chooses.

While walking out I heard many people express their disappointment.....

This movie theater has the flair of a few decades ago. It is cosy and comfortable, it is spacy and has a very nice atmosphere.

I've been to the Michigan Theatre numerous times over the last 4 decades, starting back during my time as a student in the 1980s. The place has only gotten better as time has passed, with a wide variety of events, films, concerts, and shows in general. Having several screens to choose from they scale their shows accordingly, and the smaller rooms create a more cozy experience. It has been carefully restored to its prime condition, and is a wonderful historic spot to visit, even if you are not going to a show or movie there.

They have done a wonderful job of preserving and restoring this old theater. If you've ever been to Atlanta, it reminds me of a smaller version of the Fabulous Fox Theater. And they offer a great selection of independent films. We were in town several weeks ago on a cold, rainy day and it made a great place to spend the afternoon.

This old theater is very nice. It’s currently showing old Halloween movies which is fun. It would be nice if more of these were still around.

When was the last time you showed up early to a movie and had a live organist play to you? At first I thought it was corny, but now I love that aspect. That said, it is not a fancy modern theater, so don't expect plush seats, etc. It is still a cool place to catch a movie.

This may be the best motion picture and special events theater in the State of Michigan. Designed by famed theater architect Maurice Finkle, the theater opened in 1927. Over 50 years I've seen dozens of famous musician perform here and the films are always A films-- no B films. Cir parking structure nearby and many fine restaurants to visit before or after a film.
