BAKE! is Zingerman's hands-on teaching bakery in Ann Arbor, MI, tucked between Zingerman's Bakehouse and Zingerman's Creamery. At BAKE! we share our knowledge and love of baking with the home baker community, seeking to preserve baking traditions and inspire new ones. We offer dozens of different bread, pastry and cake hands-on baking classes and sometimes cooking classes in our teaching kitchens. All of us at Zingerman's Bakehouse know the joy and excitement of baking something really good and sharing it with friends when it's hot out of the oven. You'll leave our baking and cooking classes with that same joy, the food you made in class and the inspiration and skills to bake at home!

I love to bake, but I wouldn't have tackled making strudel without this class. Excellent, knowledgeable instructors who did a terrific job teaching us how to handle a fascinating dough. It was great fun!

I took the holiday sweet breads baking class with Sue and Amelia. We made beigli and stollen breads. They were the best teachers and made it all so fun! I love that everything was measured out for you and that there was no clean up involved. The most awesome part is getting to take home your baked goods to share... More

This is our fourth trip up to Michigan from Indiana to Bake with Zing. We love the classes here. We took two classes this trip. Italian bread (ciabatta, focaccia) with Arie and Danishes with Sue. We always have a wonderful time learning in these classes. The instructors make it fun. We enjoy the vast baking knowledge that the instructors share.... More

Went on Saturday July 9 for class. Nikki was the instructor with Arie as assistant. The ingredients are all measured for you, utensils are provided, and you get to taste to boot! The class was not inexpensive ($125/person) and these fill up really quickly, so if you are interested make the commitment and go. I'm very picky how I spend... More

I have had the opportunity to take several BAKE classes at Zingerman's, both for adults and the family classes. I have never attended a more fun, practical. and delicious class! There is certain mindset and attitude that exists within the Zingerman's community that carries through to their BAKE classes. They are very laid back, yet serious about their passion for... More

After forgetting the class was not in downtown Ann Arbor, I drove about 10 minutes to find Z bakes mini-row town in the industrial section. There was a Bake goods store, cheese store and cafe besides the bake classes area. I took the class about making Danish, laminating dough. Arie was great at teaching all of us the process as... My granddaughter (with little prior baking experience) brought home a crusty baguette, a quiche Lorraine & rich chocolate brownies during her first two days at Zingerman's baking camp. Two more days remain and I can't wait to sample what follows!

Register very early. That's the most important secret here. The Bakehouse classes fill very early, and I do mean fill. Teachers are knowledgeable and supportive. You learn great techniques and about great ingredients, and understand why things are more expensive at Zingerman's. You will leave with boxes full of food. I've never met anyone who didn't love these classes.

A great way to bake without the mess. I enjoy going every month. The class is limited to 12 people or less.

Everyone who visits Ann Arbor should register for a bake class at Zingerman's Bakehouse. Zingerman's began teaching bake classes almost 10 years ago that were predominantly centered around baking bread. Their schedule has now expanded to include sweet and savory pastries and pies, cakes, cookies, and other specialties from cakes to famous Zingerman's brownies to pizza. In addition, there is...
