this is about a 15-20 mins walk from the plaza (in town).. down n uphill slightly. Nice place, very quiet, serene, benches to sit and contemplate the day.

I found the cemetery really intersting. It has differnt sections. There is one section where you find musicians. There are also some Jewish graves where you realize that WWII had impacts til Bolivia.

Unless you have nothing else to do this isn't really worth the visit. It's a cemetery - and there are people mourning there. It doesn't seem right to be a tourist there

Never been to a cemetery that was so well attended and maintained. There's a real sense that people remember and celebrate those they've lost. Shocked at the number of people visiting there on a Sunday. Graves 'decorated' showing the individual's personality.

This cemetery has many impressive mausoleums and some beautiful statuary. I was impressed by the abundance of shady trees, which gave the area a very park like feel. The front section has the old graves and mausoleums, while further back are more modern, humble graves.

The General Cemetery of Sucre is a beautiful place to visit and offers some good insight on the history of Sucre and Bolivia and Sucre's relationship to La Paz. The guide we had was great - definitely a bit biased and am not convinced most...More
