I went to the mines with this company and our guide (unfortunately I forgot the name) was so funny and knew well his stuff. Except for that they can give you recommendations about the city, they helped us about where to eat for example. I highly recommend them.

We were part of a G adventures group that toured with Pedro, an ex miner. Had a fantastic time exploring the miners market beforehand and then heading into the mine. The service was professional and informative, felt safe at all times with several assisting guides accompanying our group. Really enjoyed this tour!

Our whole group went along to this tour, 8 of us in total. Pedro our guide was brilliant, spoke very good English and the banter was brilliant! We were taken to get coca leaves first before entering the mines as the locals do! Also advised to get a little gift for the miners which was super cheap - just a... More

Crawl through alternatingly muddy and dusty tunnels, deep within a mountain, above 4,000m altitude. Feel the sulphurous air burn your throat, and wince as the stuffy, hot air thickens with dust all around you. This is an experience you'll never forget, and the guides at Big Deal tours know it first hand. They spent years working here before setting up... More

We booked a tour here, since they are the only place where ex-miners guid the tour! The advantages are: 1. it is more safe because they know where it is dangerous. 2. They know all the rituals, which the miners do, so you get a real sense of there work 3. They have good relations to the miners who are... More

We had an incredible tour through the mines by ex-miner Wilson (aka King Tiger!). Wilson's knowledge of the mines was incredible and he led us through the nooks and crannies of the different co-op mines. His sense of humor is great, and made the tour even more enjoyable. I can't recommend this tour company enough, an experience you'll only ever... More

Very professionally and respectfully run tour. Our guide was Wilson who is also an ex-miner. This showed through in his knowledge of the mines. We had a unforgettable experience, albeit slightly nerve wracking as you are inside a Bolivian silver mine! Not for the faint heated.

i have been in potosi since 4 months and i took both a mine tour with big deal and koala tours. What's the difference? First, I liked both tours, good guides (ex-miners), good equipment, good information and I didn't feel unsafe. Big Deal is more expensive (Bs. 150) whereas Koala costs Bs. 120 and Bs. 100 for students/volunteers/bolivians. Both offer... More

This was my second visit to the mines. Not much has changed, except for that the number of miners in Cerro Rico has been reduced from 10 000 to 5000 a day, in 8 years, due to international mineral prices. The work in the mines is primitive, and so is the equipment you get to do this tour. The guide... More
