Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

Wonderful view! We went during the day rather than at sunset but it was amazing to see the city from so far up! We went to the 124th floor and I cannot see any advantage to going to 148th, especially with the price difference.

I payed the top price to go to the very top, the tour guide was lovely but it was cloudy and you couldn't see anything, i completely understand the building needs money to function however i feel like people should be allowed money back if its too cloudy outside as thats what most people go uo this building for, the... I booked my to the top ticket for sunset at he counter in the Dubai mall. 350AED got me to the 148th floor with a certain level of VIP access. On your at up youll be ushered past long queues and the group you are with has Thier own guide, I'm not so sure 'first floor' visitors get this treatment.... More

We went there early in the morning, at 6am and there were no crowds. But when we came down there were long lines because of the tourists from cruise ships. I also thought the entrance to Burj khalifa was quite hard to find. I would like to see more signs with directions in the mall and also at the metro... More

We did the VIP "at the top" tour with fast track and free entry into the current James Bond exhibition. Expensive but the views from the 148th floor are amazing plus you get free coffee and chocolate and a small talk from the tour guide. You can then also go down to the 125th floor and 124th viewing platform and... More

An exciting and very memorable experience visiting the tallest skyscraper in the world. The staff are very helpful and very kindly fast-tracked us through all the queues as I am travelling with a broken leg. It made the entire experience so much better and this was much appreciated.

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
