Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

We were in Dubai for my 40th birthday and had to visit the Burj. We did the 'At The Top' trip where we had pre booked tickets before leaving home. An amazing experience and must do, although ours was and 8.30am ticket and the fog did obscure the view somewhat a later ticket would, in hindsight, have been better. As... More

This is a once in a lifetime experience without doubt. As we were only there 2 days and I didn't want to waste time queuing I bought tickets for the 148th floor which includes fastrack. It was worth the extra money for a couple of reasons. Mainly so you don't have to queue for lifts etc but also the view... More

Dubai is a city that rises from the desert and the Burj Khalifa is a building that rises from that city. From the outside, the Burj Khalifa is an amazing engineering achievement. Once you go inside you get an even better appreciation for the architecture. There are two decisions I made for the trip to the top that I am... More

Being in Dubai and not going to At the Top is not like having been to Dubai. Its a must. We got into the long line at the Dubai Mall counter and bought special same day tickets including the Aquarium and the new 007 exhibit for about 200aed. Supposedly there were no tickets available online for that day at prime... More

Good help and service with the tickets. We had some problem getting our tickets, as we had preordered them, but we went to the front desk and got them out in good time before our time to go up to the top. While at the top we can connect to the free wifi, which made it possible to Skype with... More

Yes it's big and it's tall but the best thing is the view from the top! Afternoon tea was certainly not cheap but we'll worth it for the view. The food was pretty good but nothing exceptional but that's not really why you go!

We pre booked tickets to "At the Top" to go up to both levels 125 and 148. It was well worth it to pay the extra as we didn't have to queue up forever like people visiting only the lower floor. We had a predesignated time to be there so could plan our day. The views were absolutely amazing. We... More

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
