Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

The building is impressive and the lights make the show worth watching. This is a theme specific for all Dubai. The Burj Khalifa tower can also be visited on the inside, but tickets need to be purcjased in advance, as thy are usually sold out one day earlier. We tried to visit but the timeslots available were not really on... More

We selected the sunset slot for the 148th floor. When we bought that ticket we even got access to 124th floor. They serve dates, juices and arabic tea. The view is mindblowing. Must visit atleast once.

If you are planning to visit, you should definitely book in advance. On the spot the tickets for the next couple of days are always sold out. We booked sunrise experience at a very silly hour - 6am, but it was quite good, as we got to see the night views, as well as the day views after sunrise. Our... More

We enjoyed high tea at the At.mosphere Lounge on the 123rd floor. Amazing view, beautiful gold leaf trimmed food. We paid for the sparkling wine high tea and were upgraded to a window seat at no extra charge, a bonus!

The visit of Burj Khalifa is a must! But be sure you plan it long before you go. Buy tickets via the official website and pay by your card. When you come be sure you're ať the place at least 1 hour before the scheduled time. The queue is long but fast. What you don't know is that the queue... More

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
