One of best museum experience I ever have
The other day I have been to the Al Shindagha museum, and I really love the experience. Al Shindagha museum is actually a group of house, each represents a different subject, including Arabic Perfume, Poetry, Tradition Life on Lands/Coastal and so much more. Each house is well designed and full of interactivity, so it is a good choice for family and those who want to learn different aspect of Emirate culture. The staff at the museum are very helpful, some of the house staff will introduce you in detail about the subject of the house, and they are really friendly. It will probably take 3 to 4 hours if you want to go through most of the houses, it will be a excellent experience and remember to take some water with you.

Children Pavillion, great expirience for kids provided with staff delightful guided tours, exercising great patience towards kids in offering training class on drawing, paper crafts etc. Both of my grandkids enjoyed a lot. Thanks to their mentor Ayesha especially for her Co.munication skills on understanding every child talent with short talk and offering them a suitable short training accordingly.

Al Shindagha Museum - Great experience
This is a hidden gem within Dubai. We were not sure what to expect, but 3+ hours and 20+ buildings later we came out with a much better understanding of the city and the immense history of it and interactions as a hub to other countries. It is an unconventional layout going from building to building and some of the displays were a little repetitive, but overall it was very informative and had some great photos and insight to Old Dubai. Great thought and lots of tech went into this museum. There were many staff on site and all were very friendly and knowledgeable. A great way to pass and afternoon or evening out.

    Absolutely must visit!!!
We were very sorry that we found out about this museum only on our last day in Dubai, and we could not devote more than 2-3 hours. This museum is a hidden gem, as described previously, very UNDER PROMOTED as noted previously, and it is a great pity that it was empty....the tech is amazing, the content is amazing, the staff is very helpful, and you get to learn a lot about UAE and the Emirati culture and history. We would recommend to first time visitors, to put this museum at the top of their list. They will not be disappointed!!

What an excellent museum displaying the history of Old Dubai
I had visited the Al Shindagha Museum with a private tour when I was visiting Dubai for a graduate class. The staff could not have been nicer to us with the 45 minute tour we had of the museum. We got to see part of the introduction film and then we had a quick half hour tour of the museum with some of my classmates. The displays of ancient artifacts were very interesting. It is impressive how the museum preserved the City's past. Our tour guide explained the museum, what they were trying to accomplish and then took us room by room to see some of the displays. Even though it was a quick tour, I highly recommend a private tour of the museum so that you can see all the highlights of the museum. You need at least an hour in the museum.

    Good Visit
The museum is stunning. It’s very nicely laid out and there are people to direct you every step of the way even though it’s mostly self-guided. Clearly a lot of thought and planning went into it and it was really eye-opening and educational. I would plan for at least 3 hours to view all the pavilions. The restored historic houses were one of my favourite aspects of it although there were a lot of interactive and participatory elements as well. It’s definitely definitely worth the trip. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable as well, particularly in the jewellery section.

A visit that takes you back in time to an authentic and historic Dubai
A wonderful museum for anyone interested in learning about the history of Dubai and its rich culture, which extends from a long pearling tradition to the literary arts (poetry, calligraphy), perfumery and jewellery and so much more. The staff, and the guides in particular, are most welcoming. A special mention to Rahmah Alsadi and the team at the jewellers' house.

    Good old story
Al Shindagha Museums among the newest, family-friendly Heritage Museums in Dubai which is spread over several buildings. All this gives you an insight into the culture, traditions and history of Dubai. If you like history about the places you visit, this is definitely a museum to see. A good opportunity for good photos and historical experiences.

    Surprise, fun
This museum is the first place I visited in Dubai. It's incredible. It gives me a full understanding of Dubai's culture and history, Ms. Xinyan Liu gave us a tour in the Perfume house. She is very professional, explained in details. We really enjoyed with her. Highly recommend this museum.

Excellent museum in Dubai! Not to be missed
Used to very shiny new things in Dubai, visiting this amazing traditional museum was a delight!! The museum occupies like a whole neighborhood of traditional houses that have been preserved in their architecture and renovated inside to give place to really modern displays, each dedicated to a different theme, all in the service of introducing you to the history, culture and heritage of Dubai and UAE. From the beginning of the tour, our guide, Aisha Al Ameir, was wonderful, very warm, charming and knowledgeable about the museum, the traditions and history. Since there are so many houses with displays and we couldn't cover them all in the hours we were there, she pointed us to the ones she loved the most and we could see why. Also Mohamed Askari was really good in one of the first houses we visited. I would definitely recommend the visit for all tourist, but also to the expatriates living in UAE: the museum tells a compelling tale of the people of this wonderful land. And if you ask for Aisha you'll be sure to have an even better time. The location by the creek makes for some amazing pictures. Don't miss sitting by the water to see the seagulls.

Even as long term residents back in the 80's the guide filled in many aspects of which we were unaware. Our relatives certainly found it most informative, especially the often forgotten archeology of the Emirates.
The whole presentation is of a high standard & the cinema production was well worth seeing. Best to sit at the back as it is a form of diorama so you will miss some elements if at the front.
We bought tickets for Dh 50 each which allows entry to 15 museums, however, you would be hard pressed to give them all justice. Would be better if the tickets were valid for 48 hours ? Just a suggestion.
Makes one proud to be an "Inglisi-Khaleeji", even if for only 15 years.
PS the coffee shop serves an excellent product.

I arrived into the Al Shindagha museum and there are no signs to lead you to the ticket office, after walking for a while I found a place and they told me that since I was using my credit card I will have to go to another building, the heat was so intense that I felt I was going to have a heat stroke one of the ladies kindly gave me water and took me to the building to pay for my admission, thanks to this lady I was able to enjoy the museum (otherwise I would have left, they should have the ticket office in one place regardless of the form of payment cash or credit card people are using), this needs to improve.
After I paid I went to the perfume museum and I was really lucky to find Leilah, she was super nice, patient, kind and full of knowledge willing to share, she did a fantastic job explaining me all the ways to make arabic perfumes and also answered all my questions very kindly.
I visited 3 more museums which were really basic, nobody to answer questions in the other 3 museums except for the security guard which didn't know anything, I got lost and there was NO help, after my frustration I went and asked for help but the guy took me to the wrong place, then I was more frustrated because I saw a great disorganization in the place, it is very sad because they have an amazing location with lots of amazing buildings but they need to train their employees, if the head is not right the body falls apart...
After a very frustating visit I asked one of the security guards if he can be so kind to call someone to come and rescue me and take me to the main building, he did and a very nice security man came, his name was Abijeet, he was so so NICE AND KIND very polite and took me to the main building.ABIJEET and Leila were the best part of my visit to the museum, it is people like them that make your experience better after encountering so many bad things.
I am a museum rat and travel around the world to see museums if I can give an advise to the administration I will tell them "you have the perfect location, beautiful buildings, you have everything to become one of the top 3 museums in the world, but if you don't get organize and train properly your staff and your security people (because in some of the museums there was only the security guard) I don't see that happening, a museum experience starts with your first encounter, the ticket office and goes beyond that.
Also you need to have maps to guide the visitors, this place is huge, several buildings and there were not one map to guide you.
Constructive criticism makes us grow and become better.

This is actually a large site with 4 museums dotted amongst the historical buildings. The area is not well sign posted at all so is easy to get lost in the maze of buildings.

We visited all the museums, and of these, the only one we felt was worth it was the 'first' one, the Dubai Creek museum, which gave an incredible insight into Dubai's history, how people lived and how the area developed over time. Lovely exhibits, interesting information and cool technology. Spend more time there (at least an hour) and skip the other museums. The perfume museum in particular was not worth it because they had removed samples to smell due to Covid.

We visited both the Creek House and the nearby Perfume House and I have to say both were fantastic, the perfume house unexpectedly so! As part of Art Dubai we had a private tour of both and loved it. I did not expect much from the perfume house but as it was included in the tour, went in. Our guide was fantastic, so knowledgable and bubbling with enthusiasm, that the story of perfumery really came alive. It was fascinating to learn about the different types of fragrances used and how they are still made today with natural ingredients. I would definitely recommend this unexpected gem.
Creek house unfolds the history of the growth of Dubai through the development of the creek and highlights the amazing foresight of the rulers at the time. It is also highly recommended for everyone. The short film is not to be missed as it evokes the life of the pearl divers and that whole era gone by so effectively. Do not miss the interactive videos of those who lived through the early times of Dubai.

What an amazing experience..... Learning about the history and traditions of the Emiratis. The cinema was outstanding, but the highlight was our tour through the Perfume House with our guide Yousuf. He was informative, interesting and very knowledgable. His passion for the fragrances of his people was evident and contagious. Definitely worth a visit!

A brilliant museum in the creek area which offers some peace and quiet to the bustle of Dubai. Currently there are 12 different exhibits to explore, each of which teaches you a different aspect of Dubai and the UAEs' history. There are a number of tour guides who will show you around each of the exhibitions, each of whom was really great and a real credit to the museum. The museum is amazing value considering what there is to see, and when we went during the day we had the museum almost to ourselves. It is well worth a trip here!
