Top ways to experience The Dubai Mall
The area
Neighbourhood: Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.

- JohnHart_13217 contributionsDidn't have time to do it justiceIf you use public transfer to get to it and get off at Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro stop you should be aware that the station is about 10-15 walk away from the actual Mall itself but the walk way is under cover and air conditioned. We spent several hours there but my wife and daughters didn't think we had time to do it justice. There is a whole floor of eateries and the shops go from the expected "very high end very expensive" to H&M. It contains a massive aquarium which has a huge transparent wall you can look into and there is the free Fountain Show from about 6:30 in the evening so you might want to go in the afternoon. I suppose there is slight surreal/excess feel to the place but you should go and see it.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 October 2023
- Dave AChristchurch, New Zealand345 contributionsGreat Mall to visit. This mall has more open space than the Mall of Emirates and some different shops. Lots of eateries to choose from and also this mall is the access to the Burl Khalifa. On the far side is access to the Dubai fountain. Also this mall has an indoor Aquarium and ice skating rink. Very impressive to see.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 6 October 2023
- Paul HeadfordNorthwich, United Kingdom13 contributionsFantastic mallYou don't have to like shopping to enjoy this mall. So much lovely detail inside and incredible shops amd eateries to wonder around. Great access out to see the Burj and Fountains therefore it's a fantastic area to spend some time. You'll find the mall's air conditioning lovely on the hottest of days!Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 October 2023
- AngeloB971Split, Croatia2,108 contributionsEpically bigTo an average person you must be blow away by the size of the space, just when you think you have clear the floor you glance and see another section. Everything is supersized, posh shops, restaurants and cafeterias everywhere. You choose well time when you come here and accept fact that unless you spend days here, you will be unable to see all. Taking taxi is a nightmare, you may end up waiting hour or two.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 8 October 2023
- wildeasternLondon, United Kingdom239 contributionsA gem!Breathtaking mall! Everything was easy , from parking to finding our way around! Having been to various global malls..this mall gets full marks! From its architectural design to its array of shops ...the experience of just being there is overwhelming! Every shop is kitted out elegantly from local to western brands. The magnitude of size will take one, more than a day to explore all shops. There's a food court ; a kids' play area. Unlike other malls here it's the space that spreads out the crowds ...hence one doesn't get the elbow jostling space invasion experience. Dubai Mall is itself a unique experience; for any visitor..it has earned its name & grandeur reputation.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 October 2023
- Alex JLiverpool, United Kingdom4 contributionsA Shopping Mall with an ice rink! Only in DubaiThis is the biggest shopping mall you will ever experience. It is so amazing, with every designer shop you can think off. We event went to the underwater zoo, which is also an amazing experience, and seeing live crocodiles! Dubai is just out there and offers quality and friendly people. We even came across an ice rink! The Mall is massive and you need to spend a whole day there to take it all in. Food Halls are superb, so much choice, and not that expensive. The Fountains outside of a night time is a must and get on a boat taxi for only £16 and see the fountains up close. A truly memorable experience and will be back.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 October 2023
- MarkCoventry, United Kingdom62 contributionsDubai Mall !!A fun evening out. We started at The Frame then took a short taxi ride to Dubai Mall. Where else could you see the words tallest building, a fountain light show, a waterfall inside the mall, an aquarium inside the mall and endless shops of all kinds all within a short(ish) distance.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 October 2023
- doctorfoxtrotTaguig City, Philippines13,227 contributionsProbably one of the best in the worldWith its huge spacious dimensions, the intimidating number of brands from basic to the ultra luxurious. Being connected to the worlds tallest free standing structure. Having the extreme of cuisines from fast food to must try fine dining. Having a high end aquarium . Looking out to a lovely fountain display at evening. It caters for every choice. Be wary however of the volume of people going in and out of the mall , particularly during peak hours.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 November 2023
- a-travelin-foodieUnited States1,079 contributionsA mustIt is NOT just another mall! While you will recognize almost all of the shops, the attractions, design and architecture will enthrall you. We found that going from attraction to attraction (aquarium, divers waterfall, ice rink, the souk, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Fountain) brought us close enough by so many retail shops we were happy with what we'd seen / shopped. The mall is HUGE and the directional signage not always helpful. We arrived at 1pm, walked around, made out appointment at the BK, had dinner, saw the fountain show and then gelato before finally leaving about 930pm. Crazy amount of people around the time of the fountain shows, but crowds rapidly disperse around the mall. More luxurious than the other mall (with the ski slope) not too far away.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 November 2023
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada8,870 contributionsEasily Spent too much time hereWe didn't want to spend too much time here but found ourselves here almost everyday during our trip to Dubai. There is a lot to see and some very nice shops and restaurants. The Dubai Mall is part of the great Downtown Dubai area and is connected to the Burj Khalifa and offers a variety of terraces to view the Dubai Fountains and Burj area. We did quite a bit of window shopping and buying here as there are a lot of brands from all over the world and we felt we got some good deals on some new clothes, shoes and other items too. When we went in November there was lots of Christmas items and displays that we appreciated. The best part about this mall is how clean and well maintained it is. There are a lot of different themed areas and the mall itself is nicely organized to have similar shops in the same area. For example there is an area called Fashion Avenue which has more of the upscale fashion brands, a Souq area with Arabic style shops, there is Chinatown which has restaurants and stores catered to Chinese, a sports area, children's clothes area, etc. There are many attractions in the mall too like an ice skating rink, a giant aquarium and indoor art installations. There are also quite a few domed areas and nicely decorated walls that look great in pictures. The At the Top experience for Burj Khalifa can also be accessed from inside the Dubai Mall. The mall is connected to the Dubai Metro at Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station via a long pedway system which takes about 15 minutes to get to. The mall is truly overwhelming and worth spending a few hours at to just look around if you enjoy malls. There is also a Dubai Mall application that can help navigate the mall to find specific stores or attractions. The application stopped working a few times for us but we found closing and opening it up again helped us. We found ourselves coming back again and again to either try a different experience or restaurant.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 November 2023

It is a massive mall with almost all the outlets you are aware of. One can spend a complete day in the mall as there are so many activities to do. Shopping is a bit expensive but the good thing is that you get everything under one roof

Well this is THE mall! For designer expensive stuff that is. There are high street brands peppered here and there but mostly go if you are need for some designer retail therapy or looking for niche market brand. We came on DSF so there were good deals to be had. However, check the prices well, sometimes it is still expensive even with all the discounts (ex better to shop bags in an outlet store in Europe). This is not the place for authentic local food but go if you are craving for burgers and the other usual chains. Lastly, watch for the fountain/Burj show throughout the day. We tried outside and another inside the Nike store. The one in Nike has a great vantage point plus seats and you can enjoy it without the crowds but you won’t hear the music.

Last day of our holiday so we joined the crowds & visited Dubai Mall.
Very easy to be overwhelmed by the size but once you’ve downloaded the app (activate location services on your phone) it’s easy to navigate. Another good thing to know is that each floor & area have a theme, ie tech on L2 so once you know what you’re after it’s easier to find.
We didn’t see the full fountain display but enough to wish we had more time & stay to watch the main performance at 6PM once the light disappeared. We suggest you grab a table at one of the many restaurants overlooking the huge “lake” to watch as it gets very busy on the bridge.
All in all a very good half to full day trip out to what must be one of the largest malls in the world.
Finally, make sure you visit the huge aquarium!

Imagine Regent’s Street, Oxford Street, Knightsbridge all under one roof you don’t even have a half of the Dubai Mall. The prices put the UK to shame. An 8k TV a 1/4 of UK price.
People were streaming into the mall from our buses drop off point but once inside the mall did look exceptionally business.
The information boards not only showed where a shop was but displayed the best route even changing floors as appropriate.
The place was spotless, electric carts were available to ride from one area to another and toilets were regularly spaced out through out the mall.
There are cafes spread through out the complex and more than one food court.
Shopping centres in the UK and the USA could learn some serious lessons from this mall.
Only problem is could seriously dent the wallet

The Dubai Mall is by far the World's Biggest Mall. One can imagine the definition of biggest when the mall houses an aquarium, underwater zoo, ice rink, waterfalls, fountain show, dinosaur remains and not to forget over 1000 shops of every brand from all around the world. Not to forget that the entrance to Burj Khalifa is also through the Mall !!
One can easily spend the entire day at the mall & still not be able cover the entire mall. We spent the entire day at this premise visiting the Burj Khalifa, Underwater zoo & aquarium and the Dubai fountains.

Love the mall and always visit the fountain to catch the show when I’m in Dubai. The show lasts All of 5 minutes and is quite an interesting display of light and sound.
The mall has many restaurants to choose from and an amazing variety of stores - from
High- end to midrange. It’s massive so be prepared to walk. Parking can also be a challenge on weekends and valet is available at a cost (yes it’s quite steep), so I would recommend an Uber.
Something else I love about the mall is the aquarium

If you are looking for a driving school in Dubai never ever choose Emirates driving institute. Usually you need spend few days on the phone, because no one do not pick it up, you can’t even check the important information. If you are lucky, maybe, they will call you back, inshallah! The branch in Dubai mall give to you wrong information, confirm about your appointment and of the end you will realize that you don’t have any confirmation about it on the school. You just will west your time, money for a taxi and your nerves for a nothing. On the same time the supervisor on the main office in Al quoz 3, can’t handle any situation, can’t give any proper information and he just will tell to you waiting for a call back from your branch and you will never receive this call. I’m super disappointed with this school, never ever recommend to no one!

I can’t find the right words to tell you this mall is out of this world. It’s not only any shopaholic’s paradise but even for those who prefer to avoid shopping this mall is a masterpiece in architecture and display of goods.
From the entrance you know you are stepping into something greater. I’ve been to other malls in Asia (the Petronas shopping center in Malaysia for example) but the Dubai Mall surpassed all expectations.
All the well known brands around the world and anything you can think of are under one roof. High end names harmoniously share the same roof with low cost/affordable brands making this the place to be.
It’s true that Dubai does not really have local fashion or products but you can get some really good and beautifully packaged sweets to take home with you.
The aquarium is wonderful. You can see it from outside if you don’t want to visit but inside you can pay to get your photos taken while scuba diving. The mall also has an indoor zoo, ice skating ring and a variety of restaurants.
Prices are comparable with Europe although some perfumes and cosmetics were a lot more expensive.
I don’t know how many days you’ll need to see it all but we were there for 6 hours and I’m sure we didn’t see half of it.

We visited this place on 13th January, primarily to visit the aquarium, burj khaleefa, and the fountain show.
The mall is huge, and it takes time to understand the geography.Almost all famous international brands are available
but the prices were too expensive.
Though we couldnot visit all shops,I must say.We were told by the locals that better prices are available in other stores.

If you are looking for high end shops that‘s the place to visit. Of course you find also all usual brands with „normal“ prices. There are a lot of Restaurants close to the Water Front. There is also a aquarium and a Ice skating ring. As crazy as it sounds.
If you want to get cheaper prices or more sales you better go in another Mall. If you want to see the shows at the Waterfront try to go in a restaurant on a higher Floor.
