Intersting building, has surely seen better days. Access is easy, and the view from the top on old town quite interesting.

It was municipal and mukhtar election day, a Sunday, and the army was everywhere. I walked in the heat of the end of May looking around the old and new quarters on this fourth visit to Tripoli, only just getting to grips with its layout and identifying places I had been only after leaving and much research. The view from... More

Best to visit the citadel first as the rooftop veiwing platform helps you orient yourself to the souk area and key monuments. It includes a panoramic photo of city beneath you to help guide you. Souk is amazing place. It's not a Disney version of a souk somewhat like Byblos, but rather authentic and populated principally by locals doing their... More

The castle is not well preserved and it is located in the middle of a residential area where most religious extremists are. Not worth to make a trip for it.

An amazing Castle full of history. Location is great you can have a view extended over the city to the Mediterranean sea and North mountains from the other side.

Abandoned, neglected by the government & the ministry of tourism. Located in a very lousy urban surrounding, but this does not shadow its greatness as one of the most important citadels in Lebanon & the ME. It is a pride for my hometown & North Lebanon. Go there & visit it & check the real roots of the civilization of... More
