Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This house belonged to the Nassif family until 1975. It then became a library and now a museum and cultural center. It was built in 1881 for a powerful trading family and governor of Jeddah. Later it was the residency for King AbdulAziz. It was built with coral from the Red Sea.

It is known as "The House with the Tree" because it is the only house in Al Balad to have a tree, and the tree is as old as the house. It was the only tree in Jeddah up until 1920. And it is huge!

I have been outside this house twice, but both times it was closed. Difficult to find the correct times online. There is a cool QR code plaque outside to scan for a virtual tour that tells about the plaza, some history of the house, and see the bottom floor virtually. I hope get down there one day when it is open to see the inside. Then I can revise my rating.

Also known as Biet Nassif, this carefully restored old mansion is located in the centre of Old Jeddah. When I visited in Nov 2019 it wasn't open - not really sure why (of course there weren't any signs in English). Nice looking exterior though.

The building was unfortunately closed when we were there and there was no information or what so ever about the building.

It is a pity that the owners don't pay attention to this nice house, since it is located in the heart of the Historical area in Jeddah.

I hope it would be open when we comeback again to the city.

Like a lot of attractions in Saudi, information is painful to come by. The security guy himself seemed unsure of when it would be open? (maybe on Saturdays?) Only during Jeddah Season? Who knows...It is nice to look at from the outside for a couple of minutes but that is it. Maybe one day these places will be open to the public regularly.

I was really excited to visit this place after reading all the reviews. What a disappointment. It's an absolutely beautiful building, don't get me wrong, but it's not open to the public - at least that's what every shopkeeper on the square told us. We called the phone number, no answer. We walked around it and asked everyone for more information. Each person we asked (in Arabic and English) told us that the place is not open, ever, for tourists. While it's worth a visit if you want to walk around the market, it's not worth a separate visit.

This is an area in transition. It was the heart of the old city, abandoned probably 20 years ago , and now being restored by the government. There is a mix of dilapidated building, with completely restored building next door and buildings in all stages of restoration. Most of the area is made of coral and wood with narrow alleys. I had 2 people sitting on stairs eating ask me to join them. The hospitality of the people is everywhere.

As previous reviews have said, there seems to be no information of opening times or signage anywhere about this attraction. It is literally pot luck if you catch it open.

We were fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time and were allowed to tag onto the back of a tour.

The house is superbly renovated with fantastic views of Al Balad from the roof top. If you can see these at sunset it is great. The house itself is full of history.

If only they would advertise organised tours to let more people see this historic place in a controlled manner. The reason I didn’t give this a 5* review is purely the lack if information and access to something which would share the rich history if the area.
