The temple houses the ashes of King Sisavang Vong. The temple was built in 1818 and it is part of the UNESCO heritage. It has a beautiful stupa. the doors and windows are beautiful The parasols are very nice and indicate its royal connnection.
I walked to the temple in the afternoon. It was located in a quiet street with some beautiful blooming trees. There were local children playing in the yard when I came. A Monk even showed me around and introduced the temple in Laos. :D Of...More
Vat Thatluang Rasamahavihane located in the middle town Luang Prabang city on the main street Sisavangvong nearly to "The President Kaysorn Phomvihane Monument" it's a small, very nice old Temple, lovely Pagoda!
By the time we reached there in late afternoon, it had already closed. But the stupas on either side of the main building were still a good photo opp.
There is also a set of monks' quarters behind the place so we just sat there...More
Nicely located just beside River Mekong. Great view. Dress code are to be observed in this area. Woman must not wear sleeveless and short pants to enter, you an rent a scarf to cover yourself at 5k Kip.
