When you need a little shopping therapy on holiday
Everybody loves a little shopping therapy when on holiday. Luang Prabang isn't a shopper's paradise but the local night market certainly fills a need. There's plenty on offer - fabrics (including clothes, sarongs, bags), carved wooden- and paper-based handicraft, figurines, souvenirs, etc. Visiting twice during our stay, my wife found a nice laptop bag that she liked while the kids enjoyed the experience of looking for good bargains. Speaking of bargains, things aren't necessarily as cheap as one might think but practice your bargaining skills and you might just do all right. The night market is located just a short walk from a small food court but street food stalls scattered in side streets lining the market catered to those feeling peckish.

Amazing place for local gifts and great prices. The gifts included clothes, bags, coasters, mats, paper umbrellas and nearby there were places to drink and eat. Well worth a visit if you are staying in Luang Probang

Evolving in response to increased tourists, but still good crafts to be had!
While the Luang Prabang Night Market has become a bit tainted with mass produced goods and predictably fake antiques, it still offers a better mix of authentic crafts than most markets in Asia. Especially good are the textiles, woven material, quilts, and embroidery. The wood craft is also good and there are some interesting paintings and artwork. Vendors are comfortable with bargaining and prices are relatively very reasonable. When we visiting in January, the place was crowded with tourists, but still pleasant.

    Well organized market
Much cleaner in the food area that the market in Vientiane. Has some good music going and vendors are not overly pushy. Not a huge variety for sale. Loved the fixed store on the end by the food part that sold flavored whiskey - great small bottles ideal for gifts for family back home.

Lots of things to buy here!
My hotel being located five minutes away from here, I saw the changes here. In the evening, its lively, full of people selling stuffs, shoppers bargaining with them, etc. Stuffs sold are mostly clothings, few are selling jewelries, art works, vases, etc. In the morning and during the day, the vendors are gone, their merchandises tucked somewhere near this area. Attractions near the Night Market: Temples, National Theater, Palace, stairs to the mountain’s stupa and views. Highly recommended to visit.

A pleasant night market to walk around
When we visited Luang Prabang's ancient town, we were interested in both the night and morning markets, though the morning market seemed more authentic. The night market is situated in the heart of Luang Prabang, just a short walk from our hotel. Open every day from 5 PM to 10 PM, the major offerings of thiswalking market are local produce, handicrafts, mementos, and food and beverages. There's a large food court at the end of the street, offering a huge selection of dishes at extremely low costs.

    Colorful Market
If there’s a morning market, there’s a night market. Luckily, the night market was just a few steps from the place I was staying. Oh my goodness! So much things to see. Very colorful and interesting. Most vendors selling the same stuff. There was one vendor who was the only one selling traditional dolls. I walked this night market twice, just to get my exercise and to kill time. Vendors were all friendly, inviting me to check out their products. I bought 2 pencil pouches, several teas and the dolls.

Night market - good for strolling
The market is one kilómeter long with vendors on both sides. Good place for Laotian souvenirs. Shop around, compare and barter as prices will vary. The stalls all look the same selling textiles, stuff made from old bombs and other trinkets. There is a good court with good burgers. We felt very safe

    Must-do!
Must-do in Laos! I loved the funny sayings on the coin purses and the peace bomb jewelry, spoons, and keychains made from UXOs dropped on Laos during the war. (It’s possible these are not authentic but it was worth supporting the locals in my opinion.) tons of street food stalls, rain or shine. I got a traditional Laos outfit at one of the tents and the lady was not pushy at all, which I appreciated!

I really love this night market as it has such a great selection of stuff you can buy, with a lot only available in luang prabang.

The night market is open every night from 6pm onwards all the way through to 10pm.

The night market is quite long and can take some time to navigate as there are so many people stopping to look at stalls.

You can negotiate for anything you need to buy and can normally get a good discount.

They have some amazing and unique things on the stalls, so def worth having a good look around as there is a lot of things I have not seen in other Asian countries.

We ate here 3 nights out of 4 and had very tasty, inexpensive food. It's like a food court so the whole family can order from different food shops but sit at the same table and eat together. So the teenagers can have burger and chips while the parents have local food! Perfect 😊

The first thing I'd say about the market is that it's far larger than I expected.

The Laos people are, in general, very polite and certainly we always felt safe wandering around the town/city centre at night.

Many of the stalls are selling mass produced products (some of which are very nice) but there are also some hand made crafts, which are obviously more expensive.

Our guide gave us the following advice regarding how to barter. It's not intended as the best or only way but, if like us, you don't enjoy the 'sport' he suggested your first offer being half what they ask but then settle for 75% or they don't make any money. For example, If they ask for $12, offer $6 and settle at $9. Hopefully then everyone is happy. It seemed to work for us.

Well that's probably not it's correct name. It's the small alley beside the Indigo Hotel. We had delicious grilled meats and cold beer several times. Reasonable prices too. Our favorite stall had a buffet for 20,000 kip a plate. Very popular with the backpackers. Meat skewers varied in price but 20,000 kip got big skewers of chicken wings or pork belly.

Well worth visiting if you are in Luang Prabang, this was one of the best night markets I’ve visited in Asia. Good selection of items, though as you always do you will see lots of repetition as you walk through the market. Slightly awkward as everything is spread out on the floor versus in a booth so you have to get down to get a closer look and it is fairly narrow and cramped with people pushing by, welcome to the night market experience! Be prepared to haggle and make sure you try the coconut pancakes from one of th3 many street food vendors.

A perfectly serviceable market that makes for a nice evening walk. Me and my partner often found ourselves wandering down it during our stay due to the fact it was a rather calm place with some good food offerings on the outside. The prices are good and the vendors are friendly, they don’t try to scam you and will engage in some very light haggling. The prices quoted are often what the product is worth. However, the stock is quite repetitious with several vendors next to each other often stocking the exact same goods. All in all a nice evening walk through a central location, but don’t go out of your way to see it.

You can get fed up of night markets in Asia - more often than not, they’re all selling the same old tat. However this is just a bit different. For one, it’s laid out very well, the vendors aren’t pressuring and the goods are generally excellent, with most locally produced. The food part is very good - clean areas and they work hard to keep the tables clean. Enjoyable.

I bought several silk products in the market,I thought the products since the seller had a certificate"Luang Prabang authentic handcraft",I knew the certificate should be honored, so I was so glad to have so beautiful products with a good price.
But I am wrong.
When I was serching informations by Internet, I was shocked . Some online shop are selling the SAME Products with 1/3 price, and the worst point is the material is NOT silk.
I am so upset now ,Luang Prabang made a very memory to me, but now, I am so sad . I can't understand why the seller can has the certificate since they are selling fake products, nobody who works for the association does not know it?
So please don't trust the "Handcraft certificate"

Interesting market that springs up on the main street early evening. Has the standard range of souvenirs and generic t shirts, we did manage to pick up some paper table lamps for 60,000kip a pair. The highlight was about halfway down the market on the right hand side there is alley that sells a variety of Sausages from Sour to Spicy. A great place if you can grab a table to enjoy a cold beer and local delicacies while watching the world go by.

The market was worth a stroll - lots of local arts and crafts for sale. The items that interested me wouldn't fit in my suitcase, unfortunately.

Be sure to check out the Street Food alley (SW end of the Night Market). Excellent food - including a 'buffet style' food stand, where you pay for a bowl, and can fill it with various types of rice and noodles. Very inexpensive, too!
