After the partition of the subcontinent into two independent states India and Pakistan in 1947, due to the influx of Muslim migrants, the population of Karachi soared to over 15... More

Great place for shopping for all kinds of goods from spices to textile. Can get very crowded. Good idea to go with some locals to find what you are looking for. A place where bargaining is king.

Honoring the H. H. Queen Victoria of UK the Empress market is gem in the crown of Karachi city, you can go and shop for all the herbs, spices and dry fruits. still standing on its original structure after almost 150 years. Lack of proper maintenance is evident.

Try to be there for sunset, coz then the old sandstone building looks golden and incombination with the relax, but buzzing atmosphere it's one of the most impressive markets I've ever been to. Not just a show for tourists ike in some other places, but very authentic. Love it and will come back!

Good selection of items of daily use especially herbs and spices, dry fruits. Prices are low to moderate depending on how much you can bargain. The place is too crowded and you have to tolerate shoulder rubbing and occasional hitting with shopping bag carried by shoppers.
