There is a love story attached to this stupa, which is blindingly white. It is called Myanmar's Taj Mahal. It is not dedicated to the Buddha, but to the wife of a king. Her emerald ring is inside.

This pagoda can be seen clearly when we visit for a walk on the U Bein Bridge. Arround the pagoda, there are many shady star-flowes trees. At the entrance, we can see the old bell built by King Sagaing. We can climb up the pagoda...More

A very feminine & beautifully designed pagoda. Stark white against clear blue skies and brown hills. A great picturesque spot for checking out "Mollywood"! Yes, Mandalay has it's own claim to Hollywood Hills.

This translates to stairway to heaven and it definitely is. The white wash makes it very ethereal. Magnificent views from the top.

This one was on an island which was interesting. The horse cart to get here was to the Paya very uncomfortable - if not so hot I would have walked.

This was in the process of being painted white while we were there. Lots of debris lying around the terraces so mind your feet.
