My boyfriend and I were the only audience at the show. However, instead of cancelling the show, the musicians and puppeteers delivered an impeccable performance. The show consists of live chamber music, and scenes from a variety of traditional marionette performances. It was such a joy...More

I mean sure, it isn’t Broadway. It’s an authentic Burmese show. So you go with an open mind and it is very interesting. I’ve never seen a show quite like this (or heard music quite like this). Wear mosquito spray before you go. It can...More

The oldest puppeteer still performs here and that's probably why the show was as good as it was! Plus, some scenes were just hilarious so if you're looking for some fun in Mandalay, deff visit for a show

Mandalay Marionettes has nightly marionette shows at 8:30pm. There are four musicians in front of the stage playing various instruments, and throughout the show, the curtains are briefly lifted so that you can see the talented puppeteers. One puppeteer is in his 80s! There are...More

This show was a highlight of our trip. It was mesmerizing to watch the puppets and (when the curtain was occasionally lifted) the puppet masters. There are very few places that still do this type of theatre which is a real shame. You can feel...More
