Sparkly
Dec. 2019
This is a very sparkly pagoda because of all the glas mosaic covering many surfaces. It is at the pinnacle of Mandalay Hill and it's parapets and terraces provide a faboulous view of the surrounding city and countryside - including a bird's eye view of Mandalay prison, if you like that sort of thing! :)
You can walk all the way up under cover, and make a day of it, stopping at all the little shrines, pagodas and stupas (and souvenir shops, no doubt) along with way, or you can drive right to the door. We drove up, as we were under time pressure but I think I might quite like to have walked.

Amazing Sunset Point
Mar. 2019
The endless archways with Burmese script, the shiny floors, and the colorful inlaid mirrors on the columns make the temple looked so impressive. There is a sitting Buddha image inside the pagoda. Walking around inside the pagoda was pleasant while many tourists started jamming up the rim for sunset.
The glittery pagoda in the waning light looked beautiful. I adored seeing many monks engaging in conversation with tourists to practice their English. The sunset was not a spectacular one as the air was hazy and the land was dry and dusty.

Su Taung Pyae Pagoda
Feb. 2019
Su Taung Pyae Pagoda at top of Mandalay Hill. 1,729 steps per our cab driver Ko Myat Tun. We drove to the base of the entrance, and took three escalators to the top; 1,000 kyats each. Great 360 degree views from the top to take pictures. Don’t forget to take pictures of the two enormous Lion statues at the southwest entrance. Beautiful pagoda/temple, but surprised by the trash thrown over the side of the temple walls.

Convenient point of view
Dec. 2019
The pagoda is located on a hilltop, from here a wonderful view of the city opens. A particularly popular place to watch the sunset.

Design and Architecture

Another place of worship, the design and architecture resembling some moorish influence. Modest dress and no footwear

Nice veiws from an eclectic building
Nov. 2019
The visit of this temple is not usually in the travelers' agenda, but being in the summit of Mandalay Hill is usually visited for every traveler that climbs the hill for its views.
An original building, loved by locals, will provide nice views and relaxed interactions with Myanmar people.

Go up there and you are on "top of Mandalay Hill" :)
Nov. 2018
Go up there and down again by a motorbike or scooter with driver - both ways 3-4 US$!
The way up you can stop several times for great pics, well it can be difficult because of the humidity. Maybe best time right after breakfast. As you understand, it's a huge, beautiful pagoda up on the top. - remember water and sun protection :) we made the trip with 2 m.bikes in the afternoon! (the trip was taken some years ago)

Mosaics and views. Escalator to top!
Apr. 2019 • Couples
Probably the best site to visit on your Mandalay trip. Thousands visit, especially at sunset, we went mid morning, less tourists! (Mid day its hot on bare feet).
Locals love to get a blessing here, day we were there it was recently graduated students. Lovely.
A multi escalator ride to the top is different experience, you have to queue for lift to come down. The mosaics on every wall and space are more ornate than we saw elsewhere,
And then the 360 degree views of the hills and Mandalay in distance.

Beautiful Pagoda in scenic location
Mar. 2019 • Couples
Su Taung Pyi is located at the top of Mandalay Hill. It is a very nice Pagoda with the bonus of scenic views. Very busy around the time of sunset. There is a few associated shrines at the Pagoda. There are western style toilets there, just have to ask for key. See my review of Mandalay Hill. As mentioned in that review, you have to ride escalator bear foot so watch out for your toes or injury is a certainty.

Revered city top
Dec. 2018 • Family
This is the main pagoda atop the Mandalay Hill where the city gets its name from,. It is resplendent as it shines in the unobstructed sunlight and has nice glazed and mirror walls. Several images of the Buddha gave it its sanctity and adds to the value .You get great city views from here
The place is also revered as a wish granting pagoda Reportedly the Buddha visited here and pointed in the direction where the city of Mandalay was created Hence his image with a rare outstretched arm
