A Cozy Place to Stroll Around
I had 2-hr free time only for lunch in this place amid the one-day Dracula's Castle and Peles Castle from Bucharest. After my lunch at the square, I had actually not much time left. I found it a nice, cozy and beautiful area to walk around. Not crowded with tourists is a plus. The bus terminal is 5 mins away on foot from the town centre. There's a toilet next to the bus station which is very helpful.

    Town Square
An excellent area to walk around. Lots of shops and restaurants or you can stop and get some meat overlooking the square there’s a few large churches and mosque in the area. Great architectural features on the buildings just a nice place to go for a stroll.

    Just beautiful
I felt transported coming here, what a breathtaking place. I think the weather made it more so but I do believe it is a beautiful area with or without the snow making it that little bit more magical. Would go back for an afternoon if ever close by again.

A city we will return to revisit
We spent a very nice afternoon in Brasov. It is a gorgeous city, full of life and young vibrant population. While some older beautiful buildings require substantial face lifting, it is a nice place with large piazza and well taken care parks. The short time we spent, made us decide to return to a couple of days to get acquainted better with this nice city

In fact, the only beautiful part is Piata Sfatului/Sfatului Square. Here all the buildings are beautifully renovated and the area looks good. There would also be Republicii Street, but there are already many buildings in poor condition. If you go down the side streets the number of unattended buildings increases greatly. The area is overcrowded with restaurants, bars and cafes. Otherwise, almost nothing more interesting to do or see, except the Black Church, and a small museum (The Museum of the Urban Community of Brasov, as appears it here, on the website). It's nice to take a walk alongside the old city walls and its towers and bastions but you can't visit anyone of them.

The old center of Brasov, one of the southernmost cities in the Transilvania region, is just simply beautiful and charming. Be sure to differentiate between Centrul Nou (New Center) and Centrul Veche (Old Center), as the new center is not specifically interesting or appealing. The new center is the area you walk in when you leave the train station and walk southward.
The old center is typically clean, decorated with old and charming, colorful houses that are mostly in a quite good condition. The squares are also very nice and provide spacey terraces where one can very well drink a beer or coffee in the sun - but of course, as Brasov is situated next to mountains, it also rains quite often. I actually like the entire inner city of Brasov - it breathes that specific atmosphere that one feels as welcoming, charming and relaxing. Highly recommended for a 2-3 days stay.

Braşov is a very interesting city. Don‘t expect to be so restaurated like westeuropean cities. But you find very good Restaurants and Brasov is a very good base for exploring the surroundings like Poiana, Bran with Draculas Castle, Magura, Bear Sanctuary with 100 Bears, Sinaia, Predeal, Busteni.
Brasov hast Mountainbike Downhill, Skiing, Hiking, starting with Concerts even in February.
I warmly recommend it.

This is really worth checking out, visually stunning, full of historical buildings and views. Lots of restaurants, bakeries and bars/patios to check out too.

Check out the black church while you're here.

You also get a great view of the Brasov's version of the Hollywood sign.

The food in the area is great, I checked out Wagners Loft and they have the Luca bakery and other bakeries around too.

Prices are fair, not too bad for most of the places. They also have a few cellphone shops for you to pick up a sim card if you are travelling and in need of a sim card.

Spend an evening or afternoon here, its worth checking out.

The Historical Center is the main square in the town of Brasov. The area is a big draw for tourists and locals alike. The lovely square is located near many restaurants, cafes, and shops. The nearby Black Church is also another local attraction. The area is picked up and clean. On nice day, it’s idyllic for enjoying a leisurely stroll and people watch. If you do have a question, no doubt you’ll run into a friendly local that will be able to point you in the right direction.

I visit Brasov almost seasonally. My last visit was during the winter holidays in 2022. I must say that I have never seen Brasov so clean. From the moment we arrived in Brasov, I noticed more trash bins in the public areas and way cleaner pavements than ever before. The square itself was something of a fairytale. Brasov had one of the most beautiful Christmas trees I've ever seen in any European city. Also, the little shops inside the square were very tastefully decorated and peaceful, relaxing holiday music was being played near the tree. The area around the square abounds with shops and restaurants. Just across the street is a beautiful book store - Carturesti. It's definitely a nice stop if you're in Brasov with sometime going on regardless of the season.

We stayed in The Old Town Brasov, in an apartment called 'Inside Old Town'. Great location just across from the historical town square which is lovely. So pleased we stayed here rather than Bucharest. We hired a car at the airport just outside of Bucharest it took 3hrs to drive to Brasov. Parking was good as well 25lei for 25hrs (£5). It took us 30mins to get to Brans Castle, which was great. The 2hrs to get to Peles Castle, sheer volume of traffic, the 1hr to get back to Brasov. We took the hire car back to the airport Otopeni, the got an Uber to Bucharest for under £10 each way. Then returned to the airport.

I visited Brasov for the 2nd time in November 2019, after a gap of many years... It's just as pretty in the old town as I remember, but these days of course a lot more tourists. Easy to walk around and see most of the important sites in half a day. More effort required to visit the castles.
