Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Be pleasantly surprised when you enter this cultural center/museum. The roman mosaics are preserved here in situ and are artfully presented. Unlike most museums, you will NOT find glass shards but complete figurines created by the Romans in ancient times. It's hard to argue against the fact that Roman artists originated the fine art of glass making. Watch an interesting 15 min video of the exhibited items. Take all the photos you want. Take your time reading the signage for each display, it's well worth an hour's visit. The staff are professional and very informative.

We discovered this place in internet and decided to visit it. We were welcomed by a very charming young lady, who was very helpful, kind and professional. She recommended us the combined ticket, because of the better rate. There are two Trakart locations very close from one another, both of them worth seeing. Suddenly all the chaotic outside world disappeared and we were able to enjoy a quiet time in the ancient world. It was an unforgettable experience, really a hidden gem. I highly recommend it!

Mind blowing mosaic
This museum is just unique. It is the most fabulous Roman mosaic I have ever seen. The guided tour of the museum is very informative. There is a stunning collection of ancient glass art bowls. After the guided tour we watched a CD picturing these ancient glass bowls seen through a microscope. It just blew me away. The details in the glass work are incredible. There is also a collection of ceramic objects to study. I spend a lovely 1hour and 30 minutes admiring this great Roman site. The magic charms are also very interesting.

Discovered in the mid-1980s it provides a marvellous exposition of Roman life from the 3rd – 4th centuries AD.
Walking around and over the remarkable mosaic floors of the villa brings home the art from the period. It is an extensive space of stone work with numerous patterns and images, including goddesses and later, saints.
Along the wall are exhibits of artefacts, including lovely glassware.

What a wonderful lady. We entered this unassuming museum right underneath a major highway to be greeted by such a friendly and well informed member of museum staff. She spoke great English and was very friendly and really wanted us to enjoy the site.
The site is quite small but the quality of the mosaics is astounding. We loved them. They also display stunning glass wear from the Thracian era, all found in burial tombs and just beautifully crafted in stunning colours.
Would highly recommend this. It's under the road and not obvious, find the tunnel which goes under the highway and it's right there. The tunnel also uses original Roman paving stones, just incredible.

Do yourself a favor and visit this amazing place. The museum is a place of restored ancient dwelling from the 2nd century preserving amazing mosaic and art work. In addition you get to enjoy ancient glass artwork that is dating from the fifth century BC up to the fourth century AD. Trakart is also a Cultural center where they feature world famous musicians, poets and artist. One fantastic place in the oldest living city in Europe. You owe it to yourself to visit next time you are in Plovdiv.

This is a truly excellent museum, it is very well looked after and the lady there was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The mosaics were lovely and the glassworks and other artefacts were beautiful. A tranquil place to visit with lovely music playing in the background. A must!

We eventually found this place, we were looking for a roman building, it is actually like a shop front in an underpass. It contains some amazing fine floor mosaics of the roman house that was originally there & fabulous glass bowls which I thought were fabulous for their age.

The items on display are nice (old mosaic, old oil bottles and some colorful statuettes. However, most of the text in in Bulgarian and there are some items which are a mix of Tracian and modern art which have no descriptions

I have been informed that the glass artefacts that are presented in the museum are not original archaeological items but are modern works. Is this correct?
Written 11 April 2019
Hi, This is not what the museum claims. The glass artifacts are extremely detailed and do not look like modern reproductions. I am no expert though.
