The Neretva flows through a lot of Bosnia, so you can see it in various places, but in Mostar near the Old Bridge is definitely a well known one. The water is a beautiful green color, mostly caused by copper mineral deposits in the area, but it makes for a wonderful if you're nearby.

The river itself isn't really an attraction, mostly too cold and swift to swim in except for some locals. You can take a boat ride on it; we saw several going by during our time in Mostar. You can't really miss it, but it's definitely worth seeking out and admiring.

We walked through neighborhoods, crossed over the bridge, walked some more then came upon Stari Most. It is a very peaceful area, well worth taking the time if you are tired of running around from one tourist spot to another. Have lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants along the edges.

Good luck, people.. Munjid, I advise you as a sister.. There is a tourist guide named Ahmed, and this is his number +387 64 42 07 219
It's not good. Be careful with him. From experience and from my point of view, no one ever deals with him. He doesn't know how to do anything, and he sends tour guides who don't understand anything. By God, our money is gone because of them.

River separates the 2 main areas in Mostar, with a beautiful green colour it’s extremely photogenic from above or a river level.

I got to see river on a nice sunny day from many different angles and all were amazing.

Some of my best photos of Mostar are of this river and loved sitting by it and having lunch.

During summer would be great to see the people diving of the bridge.

Went on a 90 minutes cruise along the river in the traditional boat. Plenty of bird life to be seen. Lovely scenery, surrounded by mountains as the river cuts through a valley. Lots of green foliage abound the sides of the river bearing fruit. The land around the river is used for growing many food types including figs and tangerines. It is possible to travel the river from the Bosnian boarder to the Adriatic, a distance of 25 kilometres. If you like a cruise, well worth considering this one.

Took the train from Sarajevo to Mostar. Part of the journey travels along this stunning river and valley. Blue water, contained in a series of dams, until Mostar where the river runs free. A really beautiful part of the world.

Settlements the world over have grown up close to rivers and lakes, for we all need water, and Mostar is no different. The water certainly looks clean, but i can't swim so I won't be getting in any time soon. The river is of course flanked by many different bridges, each with differing views and styles and each worth visiting in their own right.

Not sure why this is an attraction. The river is nice and clear. Mostar and this part of the river is located in a picturesque position in the valley, so it does look good in photos, with or without the Old Bridge.

When visiting Bosnia, do try to go off the beaten path as much as you can. Rafting on the Neretva is definitely an exhilarating experience. Halfway from Sarajevo to Mostar, we arrived to a restaurant , where we were welcomed bu a wonderful team of people who will feed you some delicious local specialties , make you laugh and show you a great time. Mind you, it's an all-day activity, so if you do decide go on this adventure, plan to spend the night, having a blast on the riverbank , sitting around a campfire, feeling like you're miles away from civilization.
As you descend downstream, you will go though the canyon which is reflected in the mesmerizing blue/green color of Neretva .The scenery is breathtaking, don't forget to bring your camera.

We drove from Makarska in Croatia to Sarajevo, most of it through the Neretva canyon and its absolutely breathtaking. We did it in the fall, when the leaves were changing so it was even more adorable. My favorite part was between Mostar and Konjic, there are lakes and hills, and gorges and mountains, incredible water refections. Bosnia is such a beautiful country
