Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the Spanish Square in Mostar, but it doesn’t look much like any Spanish square. There’s a mix of new, restored and shattered buildings around the square, although mostly shattered and in need of being torn down. There isn’t much of interest in the square except for the Gymnasium Mostar building.

This is known as Spanish Square as there is a memorial to the Spanish Peacekeepers who served in this region during the war of the mid 1990s, and with the peacekeeping force in the years that followed. A beautiful memorial and square and a fitting tribute to those who came to help.

I loved this picturesque little square which is in the more modern part of town, and yet still close to the Old Town. Here you can see the old and new collide with many new buildings going up and old ones riddled with bullet holes and grafitti from the war standing side by side, including the shell of the Neretva Hotel and of course Sniper Tower. There are many shops and restaurants close by and it is a useful area by which to get your bearings.

Tired of walking around Mostar, I sat down at one of the benches here.
The small park appeared to be newly built. I noted a picture of a man with flowers laid down in front of it.
Near by is the Sniper Tower. There are also some other destroyed buildings near this park. There are also toilet facilities located near it.

Met here for a walking tour and it was a quiet little place with fountains and benches that sits in the centre of a lot of buildings with interesting histories.

A modern square between the Sniper Tower and the gymnasium with greenery and even a skate track. The most curious thing is its name which is linked to the presence of a memorial to the Spanish peacekeepers who died during peacekeeping activities during the war of the 1990s.

Spanish Square (Bosnian: Španjolski trg) is a square on the edge of the Old Town, named in honor of the Spanish soldiers killed in the Kosovo War.
