    Worth a visit
Interesting cathedral with a museum upstairs, which is worth a look. Altar screen and the pulpit are noteworthy but in some ways the interior is quite austere. Climb up to the galleries and also the terrace, which overlooks the square and has lovely views. Unfortunately, the peace of our visit was disrupted by tour groups from a cruise, best to visit late afternoon, if possible, when it is quieter.

    Beautiful church and museum
The cost to enter is 4 euros which also includes the museum that is upstairs. The church is quite pretty with beautiful stonework throughout. The altar is unique and also beautiful. At the top of the stairs, on the way into the museum is a statue of Jesus on the cross with beautiful, eye catching, lattice work behind the statue. You can also get some nice pictures of the square from upstairs in the museum. All in all, this church is definitely worth visiting.

    Beautiful
The cathedral dates to 809 when Venetian merchants brought St Tryphon’s relics from Constantinople, which are kept in a silver casket. The current church was built in the Romanesque and Byzantine styles and completed in 1166. Over the centuries it has suffered considerable damage from several earthquakes. As a result, the building’s style changed with each repair and restoration, occasionally revealing elements of the original structure. However, it was not until the 1979 earthquake that the building was reconstructed to preserve the original 1166 style. There are brick arches inside and hanging little silver lanterns. At the back is a white marble sarcophagus dated 809 which was for the cathedral’s patron Andrea Saracenih. At the front are three altars, one all gold and silver and a pink and white ciborium from 1362. The life of the saint is represented in 12 paintings. There were silver offerings from sailors. The church in Boka Bay on the island allegedly holds 1200 more.

    Best Choir Performance
Visited on a Sunday. Mass was beautiful, and the choir is among the best I have heard (competes with New York City's Saint Patrick's Cathedral). The museum opens after 10am. Kotor Old City stands as a gem with privileged views of the bay. Highly recommend staying in the Cattaro Hotel to explore and enjoy the beautiful landscape. This is definitely one of the most beautiful corners of Europe.

St. Tryphon Cathedral is one of the best preserved buildings in Kotor. The upstairs treasury connected to the cathedral has an amazing collection of art and works by medieval goldsmiths and artists. It is worth the 4 euro per person entry fee to see the treasury.

Large and ornate cathedral. This is one of two Roman Catholic cathedrals in Montenegro and was consecrated in 1166. Only 3 Euros to enter, the building is full of delights and includes a museum upstairs. Very tranquil, with lots of striking features. Well worth the effort to pop in and enjoy.

The inside of this church is just beautiful. Upstairs is a museum with all kinds of candleabra, vestments, and other artifacts. Beautiful pieces of art, both paintings and sculptures. We tried to buy a guidebook, but there were no more in English. Definitely worth visiting!

Pretty little church that has an upstairs section with artifacts and archways to look out onto the town square. The main floor has elaborate alters all around the outside. There are silver religious artifacts, textiles and more upstairs.

Beautiful historical building, the landmark of Kotor Old City. Seems to guard the entire old city. It is a must see a visit and you have to go upstairs to the museum and on the terrace, where you have a beautiful view over the entire Piazza.

Primary church in Kotor sits on a square in Old Town. Entrance is similar to many but inside is quite different. More modern.

On the left side of the church as you face the altar is a stairway. Please take it the climb is worth it as at the top are multiple rooms of a museum. There is also a porch from which you can overlook the square.

One fun picture is to stand behind one of the vestments on display and have your partner or friend take a photo of you as a priest.

This exceptional church is located in the center of Kotor’s Old Town and is dedicated to the patron of St. Tryphon. Impressive the facade with the two imposing bellboards, although the left has remained incomplete. The first church in this location was built in the 7th century, while the present cathedral in 1166. During the centuries that followed the Cathedral suffered great damage from earthquakes, such as in 1667 and 1979, when it has undergone extensive repairs and reconstruction. This resulted in the modern architectural image of the Cathedral, which combines Roman style with Baroque and Byzantine style. The wonderful interior with its soft pink and honey shades will delight you. Look for the remains of 14th-century Byzantine murals on the roof of the arch. To add, that on the 1st floor is also hosted an interesting museum collection of religious objects, including parts of the tent of Saint Tryphon. Finally, from the balcony on the ground floor, you can enjoy beautiful images of the homonymous square and the surrounding area.
