Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very interesting fortress, if you are fond of fortification or war history.

There was no touristic infrastructure, so fortress is relatively hard to reach. Especially if you are guided by local citizens: everybody (inc. taxi drivers) are trying to send you to Adzhimushkay quarry instead of fortress. And most locals are surprised, that there is a fortress in Kerch. Probably because this fortress was a military object in Sovit times. So be warned!

Anyway, visit to fortress should be prepared: good light source and extra clothes: it could be cold in deep counter-mine galleries.

A visit to this fortress is well worth while but you have to be well prepared. Just to travel out of town a bit may be difficult - best take a taxi, or you can walk from the last bus stop but it's quite a hike and consider the distance you have to walk once inside the fortress.
The caretakers at the gate are very helpful - but of course don't speak English.
The site is enormous so you might need at whole day to explore.
Such a shame that so much looting is still going on.
Don't forget to read up as much as you can before you visit the site.

The fortress has a long and fascinating history, from the Russian annexation to World War II and later. For enthusiasts, it is an interesting place to visit, and the view from the top is great anyway. But restoration work is on-going, and there is no visitor centre on-site.
