Difficult to get to but worth visiting
Sep. 2019
I liked this museum a lot as it contained old rural houses and buildings from all over lviv. It is a little way out of lviv so you have to catch the bus- the museum is not that well sign posted so it is difficult to get to. It is well worth visiting. I thought it was better than the similar museum in kyiv

Great afternoon out and lots to do
Aug. 2019 • Couples
For only 40hr you get access to this enormous park which is full of houses which have been dismantled and rebuilt here from the surrounding areas dating back hundreds of years. In each house there is someone who can answer any questions you have and tell you about the house. There is lots to do and see - we tried archery and ate honey from the live apiary! Also pony rides, restaurants, stalls with ice cream and more. Perfect for families.

Worth the visit!
Jul. 2019 • Solo
The museum is a collection of houses and churches from the area that were dismantled and reconstructed in this historical park. Each building has a "caretaker" which will explain what the house or church is. This person only speaks Ukrainian. The historical park gives a quick look at what life was in a village a hundred years ago. If you don't speak Ukrainian, it's still worth visiting this heritage park.

Fun half day walking adventure
Jun. 2019 • Business
I enjoyed walking around this very large park. Only 40hva when I went. Neat buildings and animals and a few people doing crafts. Smart to taxi there (uphill). Easy 1.5 mile walk back to center

Great museum with lots of interesting houses
May 2019 • Couples
Care: interior of houses not open on Mondays and Tuesdays.

This is a great museum although, when we visited in mid-May, there were not many crafts going on.

The buildings have been very well restored.

The price is VERY low at UAH 40 pp.

Each house is well labelled in Ukrainian and good English.

Only downside is that they really should create a much better map of the site; the one you are given is information-light. It really would benefit from a clear A4 folded map with all buildings marked and a clear key. We would gladly have paid another UAH 40 for this.

Real stories of real houses
Apr. 2019 • Couples
Prepare for long walks in huge park with paths moving up to hills and down. It could be the real challenge to visit every site in this park. All houses here origin from different Ukraine villages and dated mostly XIX century. Take some snacks and water. There are some small caffes but remember - cash only.

Don’t go there in winter
Mar. 2019 • Solo
I went to the museum on bright and sunny sunday afternoon in february.

Most of the buildings were closed and could only be visited from outside, most exhibitions were not working either. The few food stalls were also closed.

The footpaths were often muddy and slippery, so don’t wear your sunday shoes.

The museum might be nice in the summer, but in the winter it is not worth the effort to get to this place.

Entrance fee 40 Grywna.

Houses closed Mon &Tue
Feb. 2019 • Solo
Houses are closed on Monday and Tuesday, at least during winter. However, you can still enter (entrance 40 uah) and have a walk and admire the houses from outside. Some houses have short explanation outside. It’s a few tram stops from Rynok square and then 15 min on foot from the main road uphill. There are some signposts on the way. If you have spare time, it’s ok to visit but not a must see in my opinion.

One of the most beautiful open air museums
Feb. 2018 • Couples
This beautiful open-air museum featured displays of different regional styles of farmsteads, windmills, churches and schools all surrounded by forest. As it had snowed the whole previous day and night, the place looked even more surreal covered in a white blanket of snow. Most of the buildings were closed as they mostly operated during the summer season when the tourists were more present. Some still had people working in them and as we were the only visitors there it was a lovely way to spend a few hours. We managed to see a few 17th and 18th century churches, one of which in the interior too. And a few of the houses from different regions of Ukraine. In one of them, and old man who could speak Polish explained to us all the different musical instruments he could play and showed how to perform on some of them. On another house, a really old lady who could not speak Polish but could understand so my girlfriend was able to translate a bit.
