This is one of the nice fortresses above the city of Šibenik. It is relatively wasy to get up there, with some car parking available nearby from it.
The fortress is newly refurbished and looks very nice with a bar. We also had a guided tour and managed to learn a bit on the history of it.
Views from it are great and you can see plenty of nearby islands.

Nice place to visit if you are in Šibenik, I felt great tasting the local wine in the pleasant atmosphere of the Barone Fortress.

Barone Fortress – This place was incredible ( I would say a favourite of mine) it’s quite a walk up to see this fortress but it was so worthwhile, beside the most spectacular view, The fort is recently restored and very clean and well organised. This is a MUST especially visiting and watching the sunset in the evening. The vibe here was incredible and live entertainment was so good in the evening! Amazing sunsets accompanied by the best music, drinks and food!

40kn ( aprox 5.50€ ) for entry to a fortress that reaches a few meters walking distance, a playground for kids and a cafe is too much. An example for a 9.50 € you walk through the walls of Dubrovnik for a few hours ...

City view can also be seen from St.Ivan (being renovated).. there is no discount for domestic guests for tickets.

Dear Visitor, we are so sorry that you feel the way you do about your visit to Barone fortress! It's a pity that you missed AR, which is included in the price of the ticket, and this main attraction of Barone fortress. This interactive tool turns the visitor into one of the defenders of the fortress, and gives you a unique and unforgettable experience - a mixture of the past, present and the future. Every visitor can join the Fortresses of Šibenik - Friends Club by filling in the membership application form on entrance or online, simply paying the membership fee in the amount of 70 HRK or HRK 160 for a family membership. Members of the Friends Club have various benefits throughout the year, such as free daily visits and free admission for numerous concerts and events! Best regards, Barbara

It is quite a walk up to see this fortress but it was certainly worth a visit.
Once at the top,you get stunning views of Sibinik.
The fort was recently restored and the site was well signposted with information written about the sites history, its city and the port.
There is plenty of seats around the fortress and also a bar and a shop.
The admission ticket for Barone Fortress, also allows you to get into St Michael"s which you could see from the top of this fortress.
The toilet facilities are very clean and disabled toilets are also available.
Access is good with people whom have disabilities, wheelchairs, prams etc.
There is free parking outside the main entrance.
It is certainly worth visiting here along with St Michael"s fortress, making a visit to Sibinik worthwhile.

On our last day in Sibenik we walked up to Barone Fortress and it did not disappoint. We went early and they have a lovely bar with tables that have an incredible view of the city. The fort is recently restored and very clean and well organized. The staff was very helpful and they sought us out to tell us about the AR (augmented reality) self guided tour that was included with our entrance fee. There are five posts around the fort where you focus the goggles and a video displays with characters from the past that tell you about the history of the port and the city. It was very interesting and such a nice place to visit. We are so glad we didn't miss it! If you are staying for an extended time in Sibenik, ask about the annual pass, it may be worth it to buy one so you can watch the sunset in the evenings. Lovely place!

We went there by car and didn’t have to walk uphill, there are plenty of parking spots next to the fort. Though nobody provided us the gear for the augmented reality; I would have liked to see what it is about. The view is stunning like in the other fortress. We also walked to the ruins of another fortress nearby, which is closed for the visitors but still - you can go and look around. We loved it. Take water with you, is my only suggestion. We liked the bigger fortress better, but this is also worth the visit.

Recommend combining it with the other fortress. Both offer spectacular but distinct views. We had a glass of wine at the pub and it was great to be above the hustle of the city. Highly recommend.

After walking up to St Michael’s Fortress, we walked down and crossed the road to walk up to Barone Fortress which also afforded fantastic views of Sibenik Old Town and beyond.

The walk up to Barone was steep, but it was worth every step

We went to St. Michael fortress below and the ticket includes a Barone Fortress admission. We really enjoyed the climb, yes its an effort but worth it just for the views alone. Yes the VR takes some getting used to but its a great way to learn the story. And its included. Make the effort its good exercise and well done.
