Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

From the convent terrace there is a lovely view of the surrounding nature and the town of Nova Gorica. The church itself is small and pretty. It was completely renovated and was being decorated for an upcoming ceremony. The tiny crypt contains the tombs of the last Bourbons of France. The library (2 rooms) is rich in old books but many are in very poor condition. A terrace with a kiwi arbor is very pleasant. The visit is quick (less than an hour)

The Monastery of St Francis of Assisi in Zadar is worth a visit if you like the idea of visiting a church and cloister with a peaceful feeling and an interesting collection of religious art. There were only two other tourists when I was there and most of the time I had it all to myself. Lovely. The curation of the religious art collection is well done, with signage explaining the history and significance of each exhibit.

This is a must visit place because its very well decorated and designed place. Its huge and serene. Nice statues, colorful. As soon as you get out of the church, nearby pl look for the souvenir shops and if you can go there before 1 p.m.,you can have a look at the big vegetable market which is very colorful.

The church and monastery is hidden away quite near the Sea Organ - just down a side street, but not visible from the coast. We were the only visitors there and we suspect that no many would find it - unless they had a good guidebook like our (always get the Bradt guides which are fantastic). A little gem of a church and the attached Treasury is well worth visiting too (included in the small entrance fee) as it contains many wery old things.

Serenity pervades this place , cool tranquility washes around an astonishing collection of Medieval religious art work. To my mind the most moving piece is a large painting of a grief stricken man and his children prostrate before the funeral bier of his dead young wife . It is a self portrait. The Artist captures his own tragedy on canvass and donates it to the Monastery. In the past I would have regarded this as mawkish now I marvel at the intensity of passion >The mountainous Loss < which is so clearly displayed. There’s also a curious old 1970’s phone which reminded me of my youth and the nervous apprehension I used to feel phoning up young ladies to ask for a date ! Not sure why I’ve told you that but at least you now know I’m human !

The Monastery of St. Francis of Assisi In Zadar is a wonderful place to visit. It has many artifacts from the 16th C and before in its museum. The paintings are wonderful as is the chapel. It's a self guided tour and short but I think worth the trip.

Our apartment was nearby and the door to the cloister was open so we went in. It is small but simply serene, nothing ostentatious except for the alter. The cloister was small and somewhat empty looking but perhaps the lack of ornate columns, statues, greens and such there was a zen like peaceful feel.

I am not much for religious stuff, and most tours of old churches are pretty much the same, so I was really shocked when this church turned out to be so impressive. The art in the Treasury/art gallery was incredible; not only in the talent & craftsmanship of the artist, but also in the overall age, history & significance of each of the items. Now I am finally beginning to understand the beauty contained in these why old religious buildings...
