Pleasant enough church
Aug. 2021
The Cathedral is well worth a look if you're passing, although it's surprisingly modern-looking, having been rebuilt.

For 20 Kuna it's possible to go up the Bell Tower for great views.

This is inexacceptable. I was not allowed in because i was wearing long short that arrived 10 cm above knee. The lady is front was rude and when I tried make my point she said she was calling the police because we were disrespecting the church. We are in 1900. Sad.

A good place to have a coffee in the morning and a stroll in the night market. Lovely area with a lot of shop, bakery and ice cream salons.

History on the palm
Jun. 2020 • Couples
When we were in Zadar, although we know it very well, we visited one of its attraction, cathedral, which is located in the centre of the old part of the city. Quiet place that can give you a good chance to enjoy the sacral art and listen to the holy words from the Bible.

Amazing St. Anastasia
Jun. 2020 • Couples
Roman Catholic Cathedral of St. Anastasia is the largest one at the Adriatic coast. It was built in 4th century with richly decorated interior and is one of the most attractive tourist site in Zadar. It's tower with marvelos view is impressive, too.

St Anastasia Cathedral part of an important visual nexus including The Forum & St Donatus.
Aug. 2019
Photographic icons of Zadar & the centre-pieces for the central hub of the old town. Plenty of external photos so I'll throw in some internal shots. The details had me intrigued & like so many churches ... if only - at the time - we knew some of the history or significance. Well, here goes ...
"During the time of bishop Donatus, the diocese received the ashes of Saint Anastasia of Sirmium from Emperor Nikephoros I, whom the cathedral took as patron. Donatus commissioned a sarcophagus for the remains, which are still held in the cathedral. The church was largely remade in the 11th-12th centuries, and reconsecrated by Pope Alexander VII in 1177." It suffered heavy damage in the Crusades of 1202 & wasn't reconsecrated till 1324.
The two Rose windows are a noted feature.
