What a wonderful art installation to honor our place in the solar system and the ingenuity of the artists - and the people of Zadar for stepping up to have the installation. Unfortunately, we were not there in the evening to see the light show but videos are online, and I did get to see the whole display. Very beautiful and interesting to see the creativity behind it by Croatian architect Nikola Bašić. It consists of three hundred, multi-layered glass plates placed on the same level as the stone-paved waterfront. It consists of a 22-meter diameter circle, with photovoltaic solar modules and symbolizes communication with nature and light. We went twice once at the sun set and once around 9 30 pm when it was really dark. Most amazing sunset ever. The light presentation on floor depicts solar system with the sun as the main attraction. Huge light panel on the floor. It's beautiful. Definitely something to check out while in Zadar

Designed and installed by Nikola Bašić in 2008, it complements the nearby sea organ. It is best viewed at night, after the crowds watching the sunset have dissipated.
The 300 multi-layer solar panels conserve sunlight during the day and when the sun sets, they generate a colourful light show beneath your feet. Illuminating an area that’d otherwise be darkened by the night sky, it’s hugely popular with tourists. Smaller circles representing the planets link the structure to the Sea Organ.

Right next to the Sea Organ, this place is like a mob disco waiting to happen! Just missing the 70s music! Poor layout of the downtown overall in terms of providing facilities. It's almost like they are driving you into the bars and restaurants if you need to use the bathroom. The nearby WC Closes at 2100, so anyone needing to use the toilet after sunset is out of luck.

Flashing lights based the power of the sun is an unusual experience. Nevertheless that's what you can experience in the harbor of Zadar. As people first gather to watch the sun go down - soon they will turn towards the great solar panels which bring patterns of flashing lights, just minutes after sunset.
During the high season there might be too many people in order to get the expected effect. Though is was still worth the time waiting.

The atmosphere down here made the entire trip exploring Croatia. It’s nothing to see in the day but watch the sunset by the sea organ then soak up the music as children and adults dance amongst the sparkling lights with the pinks of the skies behind. If anyone can tell me the name or social media for the saxophonist, I’d really appreciate it because he’s amazing!

Installed in 2008 on the Riva next to the Sea Organ and designed by local architect Nikola Bašić, the Greeting to the Sun features 22 metre circle panels set in a large circle within the stone paving. During the day, light-sensitive solar panels below the glass plates absorb energy from the sun and releases it in the form of dancing light beams at night once the sunsets.

I visited here whilst I was in Zadar as it's the perfect place to catch the Sunset. Please arrive early as so many people do the same.
This is a Solar light display and I understand it creates enough power to light up the promenade or lots of it. Great fun for family and every one. Kids love it and it gets busy as you can imagine. Really worth seeing the unique display with its changing colours and display

We visited this installation along with the adjacent Sea Organ. We waited until it got dark so that we could see the full effect of the solar panels but were a little disappointed and could have done with an interpretation board as we felt we were missing something. Should we stay until it is pitch dark? Do the lights change any more? We weren't sure when to leave. We needed more information.

This is located right near the Sea organ, not much to see during the day.
This is spot to come just as the sun sets. So beautiful and then wait till it’s really dark to see the magic of all the lights.

Nice sound of the sea organ. We went in the afternoon and then returned in the evening to enjoy the combination sea organ, sunset and greetings of the sun. It was very crowdy so you could not hear the organ anymore and could not see the effect of the lights as too many people were standing there. What really was disturbing to me was a group of youngsters putting on loud music to do some tricks. There was no magic for me there….

How long will the fence around it stay in place? I really hope it isn’t permanent... I really like sitting or standing on it at night when the lights are active. CURSE THE PERSON WHO DAMAGED THIS BEAUTIFUL INSTALLATION!

It’s next to the sea organ just past the harbour. It’s a big blue circle but you can only see the lights once the sun goes down. The sunset is amazing so worth getting down there to see the sunset and watch the lights afterwards.

I believe the display is as long as it is dark, ie sunset to sunrise
