Went on a walking tour of the old city and expected to see more than I did. For me it lacked personality, most of the buildings and streets replicas of each other instead of unique. Been to a few in Europe and found this one lacking....More

Ther is so much history it is probably best to take a guided walking tour. Afterwards just stoll and explore, there are free concerts, paid recitals and lots to see. Alos wall to wall restaurants and bars.

Pros: beautiful city with history Cons: so insanely overrun with tourists that the prices are sky high and the food is mediocre at best. Service poor. Many identical tacky souvenir shops have put all local business out of business. Be aware if his plan to...More

Go 5 minutes before closing to catch the best light- every step and turn is a photographic moment. Ask for Lidia to be your tour guide for history and interesting stories.

Would recommend walking the walls but start early to avoid the crowds. They open from 8am. Wander round the old town and take a boat trip to Lokrum. Get the first boat out at around 9am and you will virtually have the island... More
