A very pleasant experience, the setting is beautiful. It was a nice contrast to the strip just looking around the cloister absorbing the wonders of Bach, (best performance of Bouree in E minor I've heard yet). For a family of four it worked out quite...More

I don't believe monasteries are in the business of creating the most ostentatious churches so the focus is more on the process of reflection and gardens. It met that purpose but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

A well-preserved monastery, which leavs impression it haven't changed for hundreds and hundreds of years. Primary it is catholic monastery, but traces of domestic culture, and art are visible on every step of building.

There is small fee to get in but it's worth every penny as this Monastery is one of the nicest and best kept in this part of the world. The gardens in the courtyard are quite beautiful....

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Dear Sir; Is there a staff at the Franciscan Monastery, or anyone around that knows any of the late 1800's early 1900's history of the monastery. Specifically, we are looking for information about a young boy who was taken in by the monks in a monastery in Dubrovnik and became a very capable translator for them around this aforementioned time period. He left around the age of 18 and came to America. My Grandson is his Great, Great Grandson and is looking for information about his Great, Great Grandfather. Any information that can be provided is greatly appreciated. We will be traveling to Dubrovnik in late June and would like to visit and tour the monastery where my Grandson's Great, Great Grandfather lived during the formative period of his life.
