Small but interesting museum
Sep. 2020
Very interesting small museum, with lots of well preserved fragments from various ruined churches in the area. There was some detailed information about everything in both Croatian and English, but if I'm honest it was almost too much - some pictures and simple descriptions might have been easier to understand. I also noticed the building itself seemed to contain some archeological excavations / the ruins of an old building, however I struggled to find any information about this (e.g. information on what the building was for, a map of it's layout showing which bits are preserved, etc).

The museum is included as part of the museum pass, so I'd say it is definitely worth visiting if you have the pass anyway.

Ok visit but your are ransomed to buy one ticket for nine exhibits to enter
Aug. 2016 • Family
This is a relatively small exhibition (they tell you it is not a museum) which is quite interesting but you are required to pay 100 Kuna for a ticket which gets you into nine different exhibits and museums which vary a lot in subject matter, so it is unlikely that you will want to go to them all.

There are artefacts from around the area, from a range of different occupations. There are detailed descriptions of most of the artefacts in both Croatian and English It is a small but interesting exhibition but not worth 100 Kuna and if you don't have an interest in the archaeology of the area, you are unlikely to get much out of this. It is not a museum with activities provided if you have short attention spans. If you do have an interest in the archaeology of the region, it is worth looking at.

A lot of stones
Jul. 2016
This museum displays mainly stones from various ruins of churches etc. A lot of reading is required to understand the exhibits.

Explaining the past
Sep. 2015 • Couples
a comprehensive selection of found artefacts from the region, tracing the development from early times through Greeks, Romans, Venetians, Ottomans and later invaders. Answers some questions about the past.

fascinating items not easy to put a handle on

A good place to pop into when you are hot. This has some amazing Romansesque fragments. The descriptions are rather too wordy and it would be good to have a map which placed the fragments in their context

Avoid the "virtual museum"
Mar. 2014 • Solo
I was enticed by Dubrovnik Archeological museum's promise of a "virtual museum" of the city upstairs. It was quite possibly the worst museum I've ever visited. Eight supposedly "touch" screens in a dubious-looking room, only some of which worked, and all of which showed the same content. Content that would have been interesting for a few minutes on a website, but was absolutely not worth the entry fee. Very disappointing!

One of the four museums included in the ticket
May 2013 • Couples
We might have bypassed this museum, but since it was included in the price we had paid we decided to visit it and we were not disappointed. It was quite interesting and we felt that we almost had the whole place to ourselves. The building it is in is also interesting in its own right. We only had 2 days in Dubrovnik and this was at the end of a 2 week sailing trip in Croatia, so we were not interested in trips to islands. If you are in Dubrovnik for a few days include this museum in your plans. The ticket for the Rector's palace includes this museum at no additional cost.
