Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I’m not sure who this dude is but I got my picture taken with him and I touched his nose because everyone else was doing it. Probably not a wise thing to do but I like to live life on the edge. Was he in Game of Thrones?

Located between Rector's palace and Dubrovnik's "Marin Drzic" Theater . The statue is the work of the famous Croatian sculpture Ivan Mestrovic . Marin Drzic (aka "Dubrovnik's Shakespeare") , was a 16th Cent. renaissance Playwright and prose writer , born in Dubrovnik in 1508 . Great photo opps of people rubbing his nose for good luck .

Apparently it is for good luck. Why touching the nose of a famous Croatian playwright’s nose is lucky I don’t know, but can you resist or risk not doing what all the other tourists are doing?!

Fascinating statue with a very shiny nose that is shiny as rubbing brings you luck and a return to Dubrovnik…. apparently.

Modern art statue of a famous local hero. We found it in the old city with its curious design. Other things named for the same guy around.

Considered one of the greatest writers from the republic of Ragusa, Marin Drzic lived from 1508 to 1567. Legend has come that to get good luck the visitor must rub the nose of the statue.

Passing through the historic core of Dubrovnik, we couldn't resist rubbing Marin Držić's nose. We found out that it is not about any luck and that there is no basis for this ritual. But just in case, we also rubbed his nose.

Iconic and rather striking statue of Dubrovnik's Shakespeare. It’s extremely prominent and stands as a true landmark. Certainly worth a quick view if passing.

Not a bad statue, just nothing amazing. The statue has the shinniest golden nose, as everyone seems to enjoy rubbing it!
