The colours, the atmosphere, the prices, the fresh produce, the local people - it all lends itself to a beautiful little market place. We loved it so much we ended up buying some fresh produce one day and cooking at home and it didn't disappoint. It is situated right next to the palace at the end of the Riva and... More

Not what I expected.. this is a market where locals offer up there home grown produce. Fruit, veg, meat, cheese.. if you want picnic good this is the place to go. Prices are clearly marked so you don't need to worry about bartering if it's not your thing.. great place to just walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.

This market is located right alongside the walls of the former Diocletian's Palace. It is an open-air market where you can buy a wide variety of fresh produce including fruits, vegetables, nuts, olives, cheese and processed meats. There is also a large section which is dedicated to a flower market. This place will give you a good idea of traditional... More

This is an interesting place. A few observations, firstly most of the store owners are elderly like pass pension age, their keen eyes make me feel guilty if you don't buy from them... secondly they use one of the most old fashion scale, and yet they know exactly what to charge you fairly ... Lastly, the price is very reasonable... More

Located half way between the ferry terminal and the old city, we were happy to find this market. alas there is a lot of awful tourist souvenirs there but the local fruits and veggies are great. Had my first wild asparagus which I took back home and enjoyed it there.

The Split Green Market was midway between our apartment and Diocletian's Palace. It seemed we walked through it every day we were in Split. The selection of fresh produce was fantastic. The vendors selling cheeses were more than happy to give you a sample to taste. Some days we bought fresh tomatoes and a block of cheese in the market... More

A fascinating market, very different from the identikit markets all over Europe - here there are still small traders, who turn up with a couple of bottles of oil, or a few onions and some spinach. It's also a flea market, again with small traders who have a few bits of this and that. Oh, if only so much of... More

In Croatia when you buy fruit in supermarkets you don't get flavors and the textures that fruit should have. So if you have a time to visit this place you can get realy natural organic fruit. Prices are negotiable and drops by the end of the day..

Walking into the old city we came across this large market which sold a majority of items. Was interesting to walk around and enjoy seeing all the different items for sale on our way into the old city. Worth a visit and easy to access if you are coming from the port.
