This massive convent was a thriving community of nuns from 1736 until the 1773 earthquake, after which it was abandoned. Now open to the public, tranquil gardens, sparse nuns’ cells and a terrific view from the roof make this a popular attraction.

You will pay 40Q per person if you are a foreign adult non student. That’s eight times more than a national person pays ! Added to that the ruins are very poor and lacking in information. Also some of the rooms are being used as...More

Good place to spend an hour or so exploring, not a lot of information about the history or ruins. Avoid going on weekend as it will be full of guatemalans crowding the place. Thought the admission was quite expensive.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed walking around these ruins. What made the experience was using the tour guide we met in the very first room. At first we were not interested in a tour guide, but he was very friendly and offered some initial...More

It is an amazing place but this last time we were told we cannot take pictures of ourselves or we would be charged which we considered to be rude since you usually wanna take pictures of yourself when you visit a place right?

This is a nice place to get away and explore something that is rife with history. All sorts of fun nooks and crannies to explore.

I really enjoyed these ruins. They have been rehabilitated with a joint partnership with the government of Taiwan. These ruins have recreations of rooms (you can see how the nuns lived), nice grounds and a museum with original artwork and religious pieces from the original...More

The best thing we did was pay for a guided tour. I was $20 and worth so much more. He told us all kinds of secrets that we could have never learned on our own. Man could he sing too.

We had become used to having Antigua's sights pretty much to ourselves during our April and May visits. Unfortunately our visit to Convento Capuchinas coincided with its use for an art class in the main courtyard (many of the students now feature in my holiday...More
