This massive convent was a thriving community of nuns from 1736 until the 1773 earthquake, after which it was abandoned. Now open to the public, tranquil gardens, sparse nuns’ cells and a terrific view from the roof make this a popular attraction.

Do not like paying a higher price than other citizens in Guatemala and Central America, though, it is one of the BEST ruins among Colonial Spanish sites. The church is amazing, as they had candles set in place for a wedding, reminding me of vaux le vicomte outside Paris, though only one room versus a Palace.

Great tour of Convent and excellent museum. Definitely worth visit. See how persons lived many years ago. as the convent is well preserved with many artifacts from early days on display.

Each time I return...I take my friends there. It's beautiful, peaceful and mysterious! A great place for taking pictures and getting lost in dreams.

This is an interesting walk around, especially with a tour guide to explain things. We were amazed that the tiny cells were configured with personal bathrooms. For a tourist it's much better to have a guide, as we did, to lead the way with cogent explanations of the order and the site. It requires a little stair walking.

You cant go to Antigua without going to the Capuchinas Museum. You´ll need to pay Q40 for the entrance, which is like $5, but it´s totally worth it. The inside of this building is amazing! You can also take great pics and get to know a lot about the history of the colonial living. It is very quiet and sometines... More

I was guided here by a professional local Guide, William Vasquez, whom I hired for a walking tour of the town, concentrating on churches and convents. This place is amazing, even though much of it has been destroyed in earthquakes over the centuries. I highly recommend it...you can almost feel what it must have been like for these women to... There are quite a few monasteries to see in Antigua. We did not see them all in our 2 days, but this one was exceptionally enjoyable with lots of beautiful vegetation, interesting passageways, and places to rest and soak in the surroundings.

The Convento de las Capuchinas is an interesting, beautiful and well-preserved historic convent to explore in Antigua featuring pretty colonial architecture. Like many of the other churches and convents in the city, this one is also in ruins as it was severely damaged in the major earthquakes of the late 1700's. Inside, there were lovely lush gardens, a beautiful central... More

A very historical and beautiful place. This convent has a ton of history. It reflects the lifestyle and influence of the Catholic church in the region. Although not necessary when entering the convent our family got an English / Spanish tour guide that explained the convent to us. I highly recommend getting a guide. The guide's explanation helped us grasp... More
